no one's talking about the 35+ goal scorer and top pairing D they *added* in the offseason (Norris/Chychrun)

Just curious... Why do you think the Devils are better than the Hurricanes?

Both teams are cup contenders. Flip them if you want idc. I guess I just see more growth opportunity for the devils than I do for the canes

4 of 7 making the playoffs isn't that hot of a take when probably 6 of 7 are looking to make playoffs and 2 are essentially locks

I can see the growth opportunity but I'm concerned about their back end and goalie situation

Agree with parts of this but I think you need to swap the Sens and the Bolts. I like the Sens forward group and defense a lot but the Bolts are more experienced and their goaltending is superior.

I think the Canes will finish above the Devils but I wouldn't be surprised to see the result you've predicted here.

Vegas will most likely finish ahead of the Oilers.

Canucks should definitely be lower and I think the Red Wings are a bit too high here.

Not too bothered by the second west wildcard spot really could see the Jets, Flames or Preds getting it. Possibly even the Blues if Binnington can return to form.

Finally I don't know if the Isles should be counted out. Not terribly impressed by them but Sorokin is a top 5 goalie in this league and Varlamov is still solid as a backup. Their goaltending could carry them there

Yeah but they have swiss cheese in net still and other holes while majority of core is still growing....... therefore over hyped. not saying not a playoff team just saying probs not second in the division when Florida and Tampa still exist with more solid team structure and goaltending

what hole do you see with the sens? Florida and tampa also has holes. Florida was behind ottawa in the standings last year until like 10 games left in the season and they havent done much to improve. Tampa's depth also took a big hit. Ottawa is moving in the right direction on the other hand

Sens still have plenty of holes defensively. 3.29 GAA last year and not a whole lot has been done to change your defensive side of the puck because playing young guys. In the DeBrincat trade you got Kubalik in return who plays no defense (sure he may score 25 goals but if he is on the ice for 30+ against is that really worth). Korpisalo is not a good goalie and giving him 4mil per. Giroux is getting older.

Florida had injuries up until the last 10 games of the season. Not saying injury bug won't hit again, but doubt its as it was last year where like 6 of their top guys were out at once.

Tampa has Vasey which I still think is one of the top 3 goalies in the league and their offense still very good in the top 6 and their top 4 DMen still above average.

Again not saying Ottawa doesn't make playoffs just not as 2 seed looking at 3 or WC1 imo

If we're talking injury bugs, then no one was worse than Ottawa. Norris was out the entire season, Batherson played the whole season hurt, Chabot and Zub missed big parts of the season, oh and they used SEVEN goalies. Defensively, they're adding a healthy Norris who is a very good two-way centre, a full season of Chychrun, and Korpisalo who many would say is in fact a good goalie or at the very least, can't be worse than the goalie performances we got last year. I'll take Ottawa's top 6 and top 4 D coming into next season over Florida or Tampa any day

Okay every team has injuries throughout the year, but Florida had like 6 key parts of their team out. They get healthy go down the stretch and make the playoffs, and then they went all the way to the CUP FINALS. So healthy apples to apples Florida > Ottawa. and looking at the top 6 and top 4 and goalie situation for each team. For me, it goes Florida, Tampa, Ottawa in terms of who's better head to head. We will see how the season plays out just think you're overestimating Ottawa's growth in comparison to the teams around them a little too much
