Liljegren in Detroit would be a bottom pairing RD and the 1st would be very late. They don't have the kind of value you think they do.

he would be your 2nd pair rhd, dont even try to tell me justin holl lmao

but making the playoffs isnt the same as missing the playoffs? wings are stuck in the spot for not bad enough to tank and not good enough for the playoffs

They are rebuilding, it took Steve time to remake the farm system and get players. Also he has not had the luxury of getting a Matthews. And let's not foget that the Leafs were a team that made the playoffs only once in 11 years until they got Matthews. It takes time. Lastly Nylander is a good player, no doubt, but yo say Seider is overated, your opinion, but he is 22 years old and has got better over his two years of playing in the NHL. He is aloso cost controlled for several years and plays a premium position. Where as Nylander is a player coming up on an extension where he wants 10 million dollars and plays with terrific linemates on a team with studs.
This makes zero sense for Wings and doe everything to help Leafs, both positional and cap wise.

I never once said seider was overrated, not sure where youre getting that, this helps the leafs cap wise for 1 year before seider gets the same deal nylander does. but also makes them lose their 2nd best goal scorer in the process while losing Liljegren and 2 other pieces when they lost last year because they couldnt score, it improves their d but makes their forwards much worse when their biggest problem was goal scoring contrary to beleief that leafs are all offense and no d

It's true, you know 0. You attack everyone on here because your hockey IQ isn't up to par with the average fan let alone people who know hockey. It's pretty pathetic actually. Keep living in that leaf colored glasses bud, maybe one day your team will achieve something besides over rating players and over paying them

Can't argue with a Leafs' fan who thinks Liljegren is more than a 3rd pairing guy.

To be fair, the issue with the Leafs this playoffs wasn't the back-end of the team, it was from the other half of the capspace. Just like usual, no-shows when it mattered.

Think it's fair to mention that Husso played the last bit of the season injured, where his stats just TANKED.

Neither is good, but at least Husso is is a stop gap until Cossa or some of the guys Yzerman drafted can show they are ready for the big show

Not sure what you mean, he has tried to build a team, with many not good players. Unlike Leafs who had the privilege to draft Matthew's. Unfortunately Leafs have a team that is very cap heavy in only a couple of players. Their bottom 6 and other than their top 2 defensemen are good enough. Also they have sub standard goalies for a team to take a team to the cup finals. Not saying Wings are a cup team but they have several.players who are good and I expect them to progress, like they have over the past two years. Leafs are a team but until they solve their cap issues and get 4 lines and 2 dependable defensive pairing outside the top 2 and a good goalie they will continue to spin their wheels in the playoffs
