Keller Trade

Created by: Stevierebz
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 12, 2023
Published: Jul. 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Fabbri’s great when healthy but he’s gunna get hurt so basically a cap dump to make the cap work.
Wallinder is a A tier prospect, close to NHL ready but probably needs most the season in the AHL
Elmer is late first round value, he’s NHL ready, he’s like 6’7” but plays with finesse.

I’d consider swapping out with any prospect not named Edvinsson, Pellikka, Kasper, Danielson
Would also add draft capital but think AZ would rather prospects or NHLrs

Could be an interesting blockbuster, but I think the coyotes hold out for one on your nonstarter list, could be interesting though possibly ditch some cap to coyotes and possibly a goalie back to upgrade backup role.

Detroit is not, and should not, be taking on any more big contracts right now. We have too many pending FA that are going to need big raises and we can look to use the rest of the cap next season once that's sorted.

Also, trading Wallinder would be a big mistake. Kid is going to be a stud.

I agree Wallinder will be a stud, hence why I added him. Keller will be 25 at the start of next season and ks a pt per game player for a terrible AZ team with 4-years term at a very manageable cost! The dude will cost a lot!

Also, contract wise, assuming we traded Fabbri, we could sign Mo to 9.5 and Raymond to 6.5 and still be cap healthy. Worst case scenario, buy out Chiarot to make more room. Also, the cap should increase substantially next year

You still need at least 4-5 more to extend Ras and Bergy too.

We also don't know who will make it to market, as next season's FA crop is really intriguing, and if any big names make it there, it'd be nice to be in a position to take a swing.

I like Keller and maybe we revisit it next season, now is just not the time.

Free agency next year should be booming with alot of players that took 1 year deals and cap should go up by 4 million next year

Doesn’t matter that he currently “isn’t available” according to you. He is going to likely request a trade, just like everyone else good from Arizona. He’s not gonna want to spend his entire prime on a team that sucks, doesn’t have an arena, and has an uncertain future. 1/3 of your payroll doesn’t even play.

Rumor has it, he already requested a trade out but intentionally kept it internal to not be a distraction or get a bad rap

Keller is a stud. He is far better than likely anyone available in next years free agent market (unless Matthews actually makes it). He’s only 24, and on a great contract.

On a line with Larkin and DeBrincat I’d be willing to bet he puts up 100 points. I bet trading for him would make us a playoff team.

Still could have some room to add more in next years free agent class too. Buyout Chariot and we have the same amount of capspace as before a Keller trade that sends back Fabbri.

If Toronto, Vegas, and TB can stay under the cap for three straight Covid years, I’m sure we’ll do just fine

Cool story bro, do you even pay attention to current quotes from players or just try to project your feelings and act like they’re fact? Detroit is barely ahead in their respective rebuilds anyways, maybe calm it down.

If you take the gram for fact then yeah, rumor has it he wants out. If you take real life for facts, then he asked the front office to improve the team, which they did, and he’s happy here according to him multiple times and his agent.
