I'd do the Petry trade but so long as Detroit flipped him since we already have a bit of a logjam at defense

I'll pass on the Petry trade. If a guy is a good player - which you even admitted - then trading him isn't addition by subtraction. Especially when you have no replacement.

The Granlund trade would be great though I'd love that

No thanks.
Petry certainly isn't worth a 2nd, even with retention.

Detroit passes, Pittsburgh only gave up a 4th and Matheson for Petry. Detroit's not giving up a 2nd for him.

Yinz are delusional. I’m just going to assume none of you have watched Petry play lol. That’s a top 4 dman on any team and I am not at all selling him with a bad contract

Mike Matheson was fantastic in pittsburgh, fyi

Oh god we don't get a "top 4D-man" because we don't want to overpay for him!
Anyways...

No you just don't understand how trades and the nhl work, with needs and age and cap hits. Your take is a Homer one and that's the end of your story

moving good players is hard because they are expensive. I’m not retaining because he sucks im retaining because he has a big cap hit.

He is overpaid, by about what I retained. Being overpaid does not make a player bad, that makes no sense
