Scheifele and Helle deals

Description
I feel like Boston is the best spot for Scheifele. Too bad that both Krejci and Bergeron are holding things up for a 2nd year in a row.

Helle will probably go to NJ or Buff. Feel like as time goes on, his value will drop.

Not sure of Garlands value. I think this is fair value, but i'd be a fool not to know that Canucks fans will probably think he is worth a ton.

Key is Vegas signed almost all the players they traded for long-term. They didn't make a move to let someone walk after one year.

I think the assumption is the team hellebuyck goes to extends him. Hellebuyck speaks a lot about wanting to win a cup. After what sorokin got, he’s not making over 9 million. He needs to take less to win.

Jets have to take vanecek back at least. I’m not sure why fans are scared of adding good players and having to make a move or two to make it work. Look at vegas lol. They added good players and made the money work and they won a cup doing it.

Vanecek could be moved to another team. I just don't see a fit for him in Winnipeg. To me he is just another Pavalec.

Correct, he will get Sorokin type money. I would also imagine no longer than 5 years.

I hear ya, historically goalies don't go for much.

I think the Jets win in that Scheifele trade. Swayman in a #1 goalie in this league. I think he is all but proven he can take that role. I really like Fredrick, I think he is just the type of player this team needs.

I may be the only one, but I definitely think Garland is a good hockey player. Maybe not a top line guy, but for under 5 mil, he can fit in well on the middle six. Appleton to me is a dime a dozen, Stanley doesn't want to be here, maybe you remove the pick.

Yeah, I just can't follow the logic in the Boston trade.

Hellebuyck in your scenario returns very little because "historically goalies don't go for much", but then somehow an unproven goalie pulls a 1C coming off a 40G season and 6 point per game seasons.

So, the elite goalie returns almost nothing and the unproven one returns a gold mine. Hard to rationalize.

Or he switches to forward, which he has done at the NCAA level and has all the tools to do when he turns pro. I would trade him for Swayman, and maybe Saros with an extension, but not Hellebuyck at his current contract ask.

So take the risk of moving his position vs using him to get a franchise goaltender…..noted 👀

I don't think it's much of a risk to hold on to him and try him at forward, but I think signing Hellebuyck to the contract he's asking for is a huge risk

One is 30 and one is 25. His career is just starting. Scheifele is also coming up on 30 if he isn't already. Fredrick is a former 1st round pick. So, yes, the goalie still doesn't hold more value than a Center.

I want to belive Helle will get a massive return, historically I just have nothing to base that off of. I think we will all be disappointed. I also don't think the trade deadline will get much. I cannot honestly ever remember a top tier goalie being moved at a deadline.

As a Jets fan, my first hope would be to re-sign both.

I would agree, it would be less risky for Wpg to re-sign him to a big contract. We do not have the upcoming prospects that will need bigger contracts like NJ does.

I think resigning both is the most probable outcome.

I mean we either hold onto him and he gets blocked by the core of Hamilton, Seigenthaler, Marino, Hughes, and Nemec two years from now. Or we use an asset like him to acquire a position we could use an upgrade at. If Casey as a centerpiece can get us one of Helleybuck, Swayman, or Sarros you simply have to do it.

He's at least a full yr away if not more. Goibg to need at least 1 yr in Utica. Lots can happen in 2 full yrs of hockey.
Have him Play wing!

Holy crap a B’s fan that actually realizes they’re legitimately screwed at C and is okay with moving a young goalie for a 40 goal scorer….

We are an endangered species out here
