Karlsson is literally not what the Canucks need. Hughes is already their superstar offence first defenceman.

I saw an Avs fan who tried to make an EK to Avs deal. Lol same thing. The three teams who DEFINITELY don't need EK are COL, DAL, and VAN. Heck, you could make an agrument for DET and Seider, too. Is Hughes at the offensive level that EK is at? Not quite, but why in the world would you pay that much for a SLIGHT upgrade?! That's like buying a Porsche in 2023 and then deciding to keep that car and still buy another brand new one in 2024. Makes zero sense.

Carolina has Burns who is probably the closest player to Karlsson in the league. Both RD that produce offense and very weak defensively. Pittsburgh at least makes some sense to me.

Burns is much more of a 2-way d-man now. In terms of play style, he's 1000x more physical than EK65

He's horrible defensively and it is surefire ignorance anytime physicality or size are misconstrued as being defensive.

It was supposed to be a "I don't care that I already have one, I want more" post.

His defensive play dramatically increased actually while still in San Jose. I can't find his 2023 player card but he was noticeably good defensively this year so I'd assume in Carolina's system his numbers continued on that trajectory.
I didn't say his physicality was a defensive asset (though it is, he goes hard in puck battles and along the boards), I just said that's one of the major differences between his and EKs play style.
