Can't see Buffalo giving up Krebs and Rosen for Laughton. Career high of 43 points doesn't scream first round prospect and young roster player to me.

Flyers already took the Cal Peterson contract and now you want them to take what's left of Matt Murray?

Id take that if I was Drury if Konecny was half retained, as it is now it's 50/50.

True, maybe PHI takes Mittelstadt instead, but IMO I just dont know where Krebs goes. The fact is theres 3 relatively young better centers in front of him in BUF with Savoie and others on the way. And Laughton isnt just pts, hes a two way, leader, grit guy. The perfect vet, so really its about who is the better fit on a eam full of youngsters and lots of prospects on the way.

Just for the picks, for PHI they buy him out, as they dont need the cap space the next 2 yrs

Flyers second buyout window opened with Cates Arb. They bought out TDA. Next buyout window is next June.

Right now Krebs has carved out a nice role for himself on the 4th line with Okposo and Gus. They initially put him there to simplify his game, but as the season progressed he really started to play the way you want from an energy guy. Very tenacious player when he isn't trying to get too fancy with the puck. As far as room for him, Savoie and others need to take his spot, until that time there's really no reason to ship him out.

I dont understand this from a Flyers perspective.

first, why do we want Jamie Benn?
why would we give up Konecny for Laf at this stage (without aditional picks). TK is not ancient and will still have good years left when the rebuild is finished.
Everyone knows the timeline for the flyers, why get 2025 picks and 2026 picks when michkov potentially comes over in 3 years. those kids in 2025 and 26 will not be ready by then.
The Laughton deal makes sense but only because its a massive overpayment for laugthon.
I rather hold on to coots if the only thing im getting is a 2025 first and Heineman.
The Nsh trade is also very weird, Fedotov is an elite KHL Goalie, on top of that we send a 2nd and Dvorak for 3 rds? if Dvorak is that expensive to get rid of why get him in the first place.

I think Goodrow has almost negative value (and while hes not a huge buy out, its still 8 yrs of buyouts penalties), looking at the RFA calculator, which estimates that Lafreniere gets 3.75-4.75mil, it saves NYR only about 3mil but also adds a 3rd for TDL needs, but its also about the in your face nature of Koneckny's approach and NYR ridding themselves of two problematic issues. Considering 23 yr old Laf's production so far compared to 26 yr old Koneckny's, NYR is getting the better producer and throwing in a cap dump, so retention would cost

Sure PHI could retain 50%, but with only 3 retention spots, PHI would want something back and/or keep their 3rd.

Because of the Fedotov situation, that was their FIRST buyout window. They still have a second prior to season (pretty sure)

True its really about dealing from depth for BUF and certainly nothing they HAVE to do. Its really about dealing a youngster from a stable of youngsters or a 4th line center for a vet who is more suited for playoffs and can play up and down lineup (all 3 positions). For PHI they have alot of wings but lack centers, so Krebs (or Drury) would get a chance to play up the lineup, they wouldn;t on their present teams. Krebs is young and could have upside, but if the rumoured future 1st and 2nd wasn;t enough for Laughton, maybe a young center and quality prospect is.

Fir possibly the same reason BUF has resigned an somewhat expensive Okposo for 4th line, is why they might be interested in Laughton, and maybe Rosen is too much, maybe an ever so slightly worse prospect might do. But neither team has to make this deal, but if BUF wants to get into the playoffs, Laughton is an upgrade

I don’t see the Buffalo trade happening from their side and I have no interest in the Rangers trade. Laf is good and may be great but that’s a big gamble to take for our best asset and that Goodrow contract is awful I would want another 1st minimum his contract is extremely negative value for 4 years

All good points!

Just to explain a few ideas, and maybe theyre not entirely accurate but fans of the opposing teams will counter in reverse to you probably:
Couturier goes, because long term it frees up the number 1 or 2 center position but also almost 8mil in salary.
The NSH deal, the 2nd is almost worth 2 3rds, Fedotov might never come over, hes 26 yrs old now, but NSH has a better history with non-NA goalies and Dvorak is probably worth about a 3rd, again he was taken as a salary to move couturier.
Having ample picks throughout 7 rounds isnt about an ongoing rebuild, its about a deep pool of shots in the dark and trade resources.
As for Benn, he like Atkinson has 2 yrs left, both have NTC/NMC, both are good skaters/leaders amd productive, both are similar and only in the rebuild for their vet leadership for 2 yrs. For DAL it frees up 4mil in cap space, for us it provides physicality at LW (which we lack) in the top 6. Is it worth 4mil more in cap space and 3 5ths for that phsyciality? Yes

He hasn’t had more points than Coots since 2016 other than last year where he played 36 more games and had 6 more points lol. So Coots has had a better PPG% since 2017 that’s 6 years lol give me a break this is comical
