A signed Willie? Done deal. But I don't think he's signing with any team until next July 1st. Friedman says Willie and Tree Loving aren't even close.

I disagree. We gain about 6 mil in cap, gain a guy who can immediately play top 6 and a guy who can play top 9 with top 6 potential who is cost controlled. We get rid of Murray and gain a 1st as well.

Last year we started the season with:

Bunting – Matthews – Marner
Robertson – Tavares – Nylander
Engvall – Kerfoot – Jarnkrok
Aston-Reese – Kampf – Aube-Kubel

and this year we can start with:

Knies - Matthews - Bertuzzi
Perron - Tavares - Marner
Berggren - Domi - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - Kampf - Reaves

Or, we can use Berggren and the 1st in a package to grab a top pair D like Hanifin or Pesce.

Or we just play our guys and see how they develop instead of trying to buy a good team?

You don't think TOR gets a much stronger offer for Nylander than that?

That someone thinks an extended Nylander doesn't return at least one elite prospect or NHL player...

It’s interesting that this would incite laughter to the pointof being audible to those around you.

Doubtful nylander would extend in Detroit; laughable that he would extend in Detroit over Toronto

Who says he doesn't want to sign in Toronto? The issue is they already paid Marner and Matthews and now have to pay Matthews again.

This guy isn't a Red Wings fan. He's that nutball who posts ridiculous Red Wings trades where Detroit is always getting fleeced.

He knitted himself a new sock puppet because Red Wings fans blocked him. Pathetic. How coincidental he's ripping Raymond again?

Nah dude we need to stop overrating him. Berggren is a legit player and is already capable of contributing in the NHL, Perron is a top 6 winger who can fill that role until Berggren does. Berggren is on his ELC, and those savings along with that 1st will allow us to go pick up another big piece. These are not scrap pieces by any means.

So what's the issue? Lots of leaf fans trying to ship him out.

perron is 35, none of those pieces make sense for the leafs to move nylander, no ones overrating him, you could quite literally make the argument hes the leafs best player on 40-50 nights a season.

I'm sorry, you're very wrong.

Berggren is a nice young player, but that's about it. Will prob be a middle 6 guy forever. Perron is a 35 year old on the back end of his career, and that first in all likelihood won't be that high of a pick.

Nylander is an ELITE winger...that return is pennies on the dollar.

Berggren is a legit piece. See, you say no one is overrating him and they you claim he's our best player most nights, The guy is 27 and he literally just scored his first PPG and 40 goal season. He was 20th in points and tied for 14th in goals. at 27 dude... now he's expiring and asking for $10 mil until he's 36. He is incredibly awful defensively and is well known for lacking effort on a lot of nights. Yes he's worth a fair amount but a top 6 winger, a top 9 winger with similar potential to what Willy had, and a 1st that could be relatively high is a great return for an expiring player we can't afford to sign and a cap dump that would usually cost at least a 2nd.

You could literally turn around and trade Berggren and that first in a package for a top D and still have more cap. Willy is not going to garner as much as you want to believe.

He's signed at 9x8 in this post...think you're confused.
Why do you think Berg and that 1st is gonna get you a top D...think you're confused again.

I mean I guess elite can be somewhat subjective? He just scored his first PPG and 40 goal season, at 27. That again: his first PPG and 40 goal season of his career. That doesn't scream elite to me, but apparently he wants to be paid as if it is....

I do agree that he wants to be paid prob too much than he is worth, but he is still worth quite a bit more than the return above, especially if extended.
