Enter Hawks fans educating another Leaf fan how they won't be taking Murray and his contract for less than a 1st.

An undrafted shrimp and a 3rd won't be on their list of potential alternative options either.

As is tradition with these bad Murray proposals, Chicago declines.

Yes, the time for TOR to trade Murray to the Hawks has passed (unless TOR wants to dramatically overpay, which I don't think they do.) Prior to the draft, the Hawks could have taken on Murray and bought him out. Now, even with a second buyout window opening up, ONLY Toronto can buy him out.

Part of my understanding of the arcane rules governing the second buyout window, is that not only must the player being bought out have been on the roster prior to the TDL, but even that can only occur with players that have a least a $4mm cap hit. So, the Hawks couldn't even buy out Mrazek at this point to offset Murray's cap hit and cash outlay.

Bottom line: for the Hawks to take on Murry now would require a massive overpay by TOR. The Hawks would not only incur his salary hit (which exceeds his cap hit), but he'd also take up a roster spot needed to best slot our young goalies for their optimum development.

The "Murray to CHI" ship has sailed. He's all yours now. End of story.
