Description
Can't remember if they award 2 year deals or 1 year deals. Either way, I think TOR is going to have to go with a 20 man roster no matter what LTIR stuff they figure out. Samsonov may get about 200k less, but still wouldn't change that reality.

I read yesterday that if a player elects arbitration, then the teams chooses the 1-2 year term, based on the cap hit that is given by the arbiter. I believe it was the Leafs that chose arbitration though, so I am making the assumption that Samsonov will choose the 1 or 2 years. I could be severely wrong on this.

I would rather keep Timmins by the way and risk him on waivers.

Gambrell is almost 100% starting in the AHL also. I would be okay starting with 11 and 7, if it meant we didn't need to expose Timmins.

I think if the team elects Arb its 1 year deal but if it was the player its 2 years

Could have changed but I remember it being like that

Good call on Timmins. Dude has potential.

I always hope Gambrell will stick. A guy who teaches with me played rec baseball with Gambrell's dad. And always gotta go for the DU boys. Gonna hope he does something this year!

But yeah, the 11 and 7 is a very possible reality for y'all.

Timmins also played super well when he made it in the Leafs lineup last year. He just couldn't get in post deadline for some reason. Biggest reason I don't love the Klingberg signing is because we had Timmins who could be properly tried in that role. And then we could have used that 4m on a bigger and tougher dman.

As for Gambrell, we will see! He will be in a fight for that 4C spot to start the year. McMann, Gambrell, Steeves, Robertson, Holmberg will be battling it out hard for that last spot.

Leafs have enough centres, where they can choose a natural centre or a winger for their only real open spot on forward.

All these guys are locks (lines can be adjusted as needed):
Knies-Matthews-Marner
Bert-Tavares-Nylander
Domi-Kampf-Jarnkrok
Reaves

Laferty is an almost lock but MAYBE not. So you have either 1 or 2 open spots on forward for Lafferty, McMann, Gambrell, Steeves, Robertson, Holmberg

I personally want Robertson to get a proper and long and healthy look. Holmberg also looked good last year. Gambrell is right at the bottom of that list in my mind. But possible still.

A Long-term relationship that just ended? A long-term lease on a condo in Boca? A long-term goal he never achieved? They'll phrase it however they have to to get him on that list lol.

That’s not how it works and the league won’t let it

Oh I'm well aware. I'm just trying to go along with what the Leafs fans are saying and even if they move him to LTIR (and I am VERY pessimistic so I think they'll cheat their way to it), they're still screwed. One injury and they are toasted.

It was player elected arbitration. Regardless due to his age the max term the arbitrator can give is 1 year

Thank you, sir! I'm in the middle of a grad degree (it's why I keep posting) and I literally will claw my eyes out if I have to do additional research tears of joy

Thanks! And you are right, I was thinking about Debrincat and team arbitration. Thanks!
