Goodrow contract isn't all that bad. He provides a lot of value. It's a bit steep but not insane. The reason he was in buyout talks was because the Rangers were super cash strapped AND the first 2 years of his buyout were at a negative cap hit rather than a positive cap hit. So New York would have benefited over 600k for the first 2 years, if they bought him out.

Also, as a Leaf fan, I would cry if this is what ended up happing. At worst, I would want that top 10 protected and a 3rd round pick coming back. We will see how it plays out.

Hawks make all three of those deals. Pens, Leafs and Rangers do not.

But what if Pittsburgh got REALLY, REALLY cool rock
And we know Treliving has a crippling Starbucks addiction (as evidenced by the caffeine crash on July 1 before a rush on July 2)

Unless Laf gets offer sheeted, there's no scenario where the Rangers trade Goodrow this offseason, especially if it will cost that much.

I think the snickers bar is a bit much in the NYR deal...

How many coffees left on that Starbucks card... cause damn their coffee is getting expensive...

Too many 2024 1sts... spread them out over the next couple of years...

Then you will be buying him out....cause I can't see anyone taking 6 million in actual salary for less.

Pens deal is WAY off. Granlund is not worth his 11 million left in salary, but he is more like a half dump (If his salary/cap were half....he would be a neutral asset teams would take for free (just not pay anything for him) than a total cap dump. Maybe you get an even better deal if the Pens are desperate....but a 1st & POJ is not desperate...it is short bus level of silliness.

Leafs deal is correct value....for someone to take Murray and the 6 million he is owed....but the Leafs likely buy him out before paying that.

Goodrow probably should be a late 1st (minus the other picks) and the Hawks should offersheet Laf at 4.2 to put them in that bind where they could get desperate enough to pay a 1st....as payback for lowballing the Kane trade when Kane would only except to one team.

It only took a 3rd for Ottawa to dump him to Toronto with 2 years left at that cap hit as well as other awful contracts (Staal, Zaitsev, Bailey, Cal Petersen etc......) went for less than a 1st. It may not be the Hawks but I just don't see how Murray would cost a 1st to dump

Josh Bailey was bought out for 2.3 million or the Hawks bought a 2nd for 2.33....terrible example to try to make your point as Murray cost 6 million real dollars. Petersen trade had a lot of moving parts, but Kings had to retain 4 million in salary and still moved a 2nd a former high 2nd that has developed well/as expected....again don't think that helps your point. Zaitsev was a 2nd and a 4th and less than 6 million in net cash. Staal no idea which one or which trade you are referring to, but 2 examples in the 6 million neighborhood are your own GM trading Monahan with a 1st and the Marleau deal that cost a first.

Kings retained on Provorov, not Petersen. I was referring to Marc Staal in 2020 (only a 2nd) and you're ignoring crucial points with the Monahan and Marleau trades. Monahan was moved to free up room for Kadri and Marleau had a full NMC and would only accept a return to San Jose and the Leafs had Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson as RFAs with nowhere near enough money for them. Also forgetting Ottawa literally traded Murray with 2 years left at his current cap hit for just a 3rd

Lol....so retention on Provorov to move Petersen is not the same net result as retaining on Peterson....again lol. Newsflash....doesn't matter which contract the Kings retained on....they retained 4 million to move Petersen and for no other reason than to move him. So spending cap you don't have on Kadri, Marner, Kapanen, & Johnson are different than spending cap you don't have for Domi, Bertuzzi, Reaves, Klingberg, and Samsonov.....again an argument not based in any semblance of logic. Whatever the Leafs were willing to pay to trade for a player a couple years ago is irrelevant to what his value is today after 3 straight stops losing the net for his team and having to be moved.

Why is it irrelevant? Because he's now in a Leaf uniform and on this site the Leafs always have to overpay? Even if that were true it doesn't offset the 2 years vs 1 year
