Let me get this straight.

MTL gets Mantha for 5.7mil + 2.25mil = 7.95mil
WSH gets Hoffman for 2.25m

Me thinks something doesn’t add up here

Mantha has a better value than Hoffman, but if you wish, add up a 3rd round pick.

I can see this happening, but WASH would need to add a pick going to Mtl. Not for player value but for Cap Space retention.

Not a 1st or 2nd.. Best would be a 3rd rounder (with a condition that Habs would get the lowest of their picks in the 3rd) but more rational would be a 5th round.

I don’t think there’s a deal to be had at all between Caps and Habs, not involving Mantha or Hoffman at least. Caps shouldn’t be interested in another aging winger and Habs won’t take on another winger without sending one back.

If the Caps had any interest in Hoffman or Armia, it would've gotten done in the Edmundson deal. It's a hard maybe on Hoffman if Montreal retained on him, an easy pass on Armia.

I also think Hoffman and Armia were already discussed with WSH and the only possible trade was for Edmundson
