I've always been confused when fans trade Free Agents that their team just signed. I can't see any team moving on from a player they just signed unless it's a blatantly obvious situation where they should be moved which neither of these moves are.

1. Why would Dubas trade 2 people he just signed in FA before playing their first game? In the case of Eller you're getting the same player back and spending two 3rds to get 5 years younger. Nieto you're giving away depth for free.

2. What injury does Carter have to go on LTIR? As long as Carter is healthy he unfortunately is counting against cap.

3. Why we would we put Mantha on Line 1? If anything he'd be Line 3 material in which case I don't want him at that price tag.

4. Why would we want Dumba who has already shown signs of regression? Granted this price tag is better, but I don't think that's the dollar amount he signs for.

5. I think DOC is going to end up being around 1 mil.

No more room for depth forwards. We have 13 on the roster now. Plenty of depth beneath that.

Caps are stacked at defense, especially the right side. No need for Petry.

I man, if I'm Hugues, I jump on that trade for Eller just to get the picks, but considering PENS just signed him ... I would be very surprised this would even have been thought of prior.

Also, I don't see CAPS holding a dollar off of Mantha's contract and taking Petry's contract (more money) since they are already slightly over the cap right now.
