I'd probably jump on that offer if i was the Jets. Feel like you won't get a better offer from anyone else

Hard to say, it's not a bad price for Helle as a rental but if Jets are in a good playoff position idk if UPL is a reliable replacement. If they're outside of playoffs they'd likely take this if no extension can be reached with any team raising the return for him.

Unless hellebucyk is willing to take a 2-3 year deal (doubtful) there's no reason for Buffalo to block Levi for another 6-7 years of hellebucyk's next huge contract.

There's no knowing levi will be ready for a starting role in the next 3 years, having Helle sign a 5-6 year deal would make total sense can mentor Levi and towards the later years of the contract they can be a tandem.

Even helly for a season as a veteran influence, possibly change the goalie to Comrie, keep the two kids with helly, and gain the capspace in July with just the rental buy, I don’t believe it’s a bad thing with the youth of that team. 2 years of vladr or 4 years of Gibson possibly better, but helly for a show me contract year, should give you exactly what you may need, with not that much of a cost.

And that’s EXACTLY why the Sabres aren’t gonna trade for him
If he was willing to sign a 3year extension, sign me up
Otherwise, trust the process & let the kids keep developing

Ok, i guess
But there’s ZERO CHANCE the Sabres give all that up for a RENTAL- no way

Ya I don’t see the first plus the prospect, lesser pick or lesser prospect, the dman isn’t here nor there and if it’s comrie it’s something different also, all depends on the season and who ends up in dire need of a tender or what the market turns into. Jets probably trying to gamble and hope for a bigger haul and a more desperate team.

Seems like the Sabres mgmt is happy to at least *start* the season with our current trio in net- and see where it goes

We’re still a really young team,
so it’s sure to be an interesting ride

Does upl got too clear to get to the ahl? Thought for sure there was going to be at least a Comrie upgrade, but losing him to waivers going into the season isn’t a big loss

Looks like we are gonna carry 3 goalies to start the season
UPL would have to clear waivers, which is unlikely

That's an overpay for a rental goalie. Its the equivalent of 2 1sts and a 2nd + UPL. If Helle signed a 2-3 year reasonable AAV extension then its something I'd do. Otherwise its Joki, UPL, 2024 1st as my offer for a rental. Including Ostlund is too rich

There doesn't seem to be much of a goalie market right now. No point bidding against yourself.
