No, that's like saying someone making less than McDavid has more value than him. Not saying Matthews is as good as McDavid but Matthews is much better than Thompson

If he produces like he did in the first half for a full season, maybe but it's unlikely and think about it Matthews wasn't far behind despite being hurt for most of the year.

When he put up better numbers than Matthews while also nursing an injury last season and made 1.4 mil, he had a lot more value. If he puts up similar numbers throughout the contract, he will have more value.

Of course it does but the best player holds more value. A top 3 player in the world holds more value than someone who is maybe top 25. As I mentioned above, McDavid is the most valuable asset and it doesn't matter how much term he has or what he makes. He's just better than everyone else. Matthews is better than just about everyone else other than him and MacKinnon. Jack Hughes might get up into that top 4 as well but isn't as good defensively as Matthews and MacKinnon and is small. But still amazing. Thompson is certainly good but he had a lights out start to the season and fell way off in the 2nd half. Had some amazing puck luck to start the year and it went away. So he's likely somewhere in the middle there. Definitely a point a game player but I doubt he does much better than he did last year.
