Yes. Sorry, I should have stated... that is the whole premise of these proposals I've been making for Petey. The issue I'm trying to suss out is value IF he were to request a trade or tell the team that he won't sign long-term.

Would depend on Pettersson's number.

That's a lot of excess value given up on Nico's contract and Nemec's ELC.

Ahhh, got it. I think VAN could be interested but most likely they would want someone that could put up 100+ pts.

I'm not sure why NJD would do this. Petty is a 1c, so is Hughes. They can work as a tandem, like how Crosby and Malkin did, but why? Namely, why give up the other half of what could become a game-defining defensive par (Hughes-Nemec) just for an upgrade on the second line?

I just don't really understand it.

Yeah, well we all have things we want... Unfortunately for VAN, I don't think anyone is trading them a guy like that.

I agree. I'm looking at teams with a surplus of very high-end prospects that could potentially offer VAN what they want to try and make the point to VAN fans that they aren't going to get what they are dreaming of for Petey if he were to be dealt. They'll get a good package for sure, but they seem to be a little delusional about what the market has to offer, and want a Wayne Gretzky to LAK-like return.

Could be maybe something like Beniers and a 1st if SEA want even more high end than Berniers. I think that would be a really interesting trade

Would have to be a sign (or extend) and trade given that Pettersson's due for a new contract, and even then it'd be a one for one with Hischer.
No way I'd be okay with adding Nemec on top (unless they are sending Quinn Hughes back at 50% retained or somethin).

Makes sense. I'm welling to bet they can get a team like Columbus or the Red Wings to talk. Red Wings especially. They don't really have an obvious elite 1c on the roster or in the pipeline. Larkin is a great player, but I'm not convinced he's a cup-winning 1c. More like a very elite 2c. I'm betting they can do Kasper, Willinder, a 1st and one of Copp/Compher at the draft next year if the Red Wings continue to not do great.

Nice try.
It's not going to happen.
Canucks decline.
