I have a feeling Willy stays a Leaf (this season) and Trevling let's Nylander be the bad guy and leave as an UFA and just like when JT goes to NYI and gets booed, Nylander will get booed.

Trevling comes out as the hero, for trying his best to keep him.

very possible. i really think that the leafs should stop with the full talent and superstar culture, hes an amazing player but i think we can host a better suited roster for playoff success, his $$$ will be spent in diff areas to host a better team overall

I suspect the 1 yr deals given to Bert and Domi are a tryout/plan B option concerning Willy, if Nylander does resign, than one or both Bert and Domi will not be back, but if Nylander leaves, Bert and Domi can be resigned long term by splitting the $10 million offer Nylander wants.

Hawks probably decline. Trade value is fine, but Tanev is kind of redundant for what Hawks have already in Foligno and Perry.

Nylander is only worth 9.5M to Toronto fans anywhere else 6.8M to 7.5M tops and that's thanks for Travares. Ask yourself Nylander or Keller? I take Keller all day long at 7.2M

Doesn't make the Leafs better this season does it. Nylander, Liljegren. and Jarkrok for Larsson and Wennberg.
Five players with M NTCs,
What is the the fascination with Leafs fans to trade Nylander for lesser players? Leafs are in a win mode this season. More silliness basing a trade on an extension.

Who said I made those trades with the intent to lose ? A Nylander trade will obviously make the team a tad worse on paper, but overall we have a good team, with a better blue line and picks in the bank. This team 100% makes the playoffs with or without Willy. And we’re in a great place to sign quality ufas next year. Not sure what’s so triggering about this idea, Nylander getting traded is a very strong possibility

I love how you let out the most important part of the trade which is the 2, 1st round pick smile

Based solely on your line up, SEA easily declines. A 2nd line fwd and a top pair D plus two 1sts for Nylander isn’t gonna happen.

OK, if the Leafs are in sell mode great. But why stop there.? Trade Matthews, Bertuzzi, Domi, Klingberg, Brodie. They are all expiring UFAs

Sure you can, but the trades makes Leafs worse the season. And of course the most silly thing about the trade is the comment about the Nylander extension. You can be guaranteed that the Leafs aren't letting a star player negotiate a contract with another team. Contending teams NEVER allow this when a player is one season away from his contract ending.
So why would Seattle give up so much for one year of Nylander and Lilijegren?
All those M NTCs waive?

you must have very little faith in domi and bert. i think this team is fine, with a better blue line and more $$$ freedom to upgrade in the near future, this team is just as good with way more options down the road. handing 9.5m to nylander handcuffs us badly and itll hurt this team

I can't believe you actually wrote this. The Leafs are under no obligation to sign Nylander to 9.5m. Don't you understand what UFA means? Same with Seattle.,.,.,they don't have any hold on Nylander to sign him even if they want to. Sorry, so much ridiculousness is being shown by CapFriendly posts...when trades are based on extensions.
And certainly the Leafs aren't going to allow a star player to negotiate with another team. I can't think of one instance where a Cup contender allows this to happen one full season way from the contract expires for that player. As I have said before....."Can't think of a good trade....add extension to it"
I can think of reasons for the Leafs and Kraken not doing the trade. I certainly some the players with M NTCs especially Tanev may not agree to the trades

so youd rather lose willy for free than to trade him? cuz i dont think the leafs can afford what he wants, and if tree senses he cant ext willy i can totally see them working out together to figure out his next forever team so we can max the value we get back

You rate those players as a top pair D and a top 6 fwd. SEA isn’t trading a top pair D and top 6 fwd plus two 1sts for Nylander.

so if i put wennberg on the third line, and adam-larsson on the 2nd pair, it becomes a 3rd liner with a top 4 dmen, so they accept? where those players play for their new team is irrevelant af lol

Leafs acquired UFAs Bertuzzi, Domi, Klingberg, Reaves, without giving up anything to get them, but somehow the Leafs HAVE to get weaker this season to get something back for Nylander.
There are over 100 upcoming UFAs in th summer of 2024. Do they all get traded to other teams because somehow they teams they acquire them are going to extend them.
Traditionally (right or wrong) teams trade for upcoming UFAs at TDL knowing they have little chance of resigning these players.

If the trade you suggested with Seattle....well that's OK. But it silliness that the trade is based upon an extension really takes the credibility out of the trade. Again I know of not trade ever where a Cup Contender tells a star player to negotiate with another team, so they can trade him one year away from his contract ending.
Also why would Tanev want waive his M NTC to the Hawks?
