Canes pass. Would need a young top 4 RD coming back for the Canes to have the RD depth to do this. Value is fine, positional issues are just too difficult to overcome

I don't think any team with a young top 4 rhd is going to be in the market for Pesece

*Pesce

Then there's no reason for the Canes to move him. Pesce's a top pairing D man and one of the best DFD in hockey. If you do not present a reason for the Canes to move him, they won't. They have no reason to

No chance VAN does that Pesce deal, that's a MASSIVE overpay for a shutdown dman

He isn't re-signing in Carolina and Wedell has already said they will look to move him if he doesn't re-sign

After they trade Pesce, the canes have 4 NHL RD? Burns, DeAngelo, Coghlan, Chatfield and they should be looking to give Honka a look soon.

How do you know he isn’t resigning in Carolina? Just because he hasn’t signed a year early? I mean, the Canes have an entire year to get him signed. The likelihood he doesn’t sign in Carolina is very low.

They're trying to re-sign him to date and Waddell has reaffirmed that whenever he's been asked.

3 3rd pairing D men and a 39 year old Brent Burns... thanks for proving my point

Yes, must be hard having a freak of nature 39yr old putting up 60pts+ and a +20, with DeAngelo playing on a horrible team he put up 40pts+, and Chatfield looked very defensively sound last season....hard life.

Chatfield was awful... he's arguably a number 7 D man. DeAngelo is a 3rd pairing D man. Burns was absolutely fine, but they all have defensive issues and Burns could just fall off a cliff tomorrow

Pesce is technically a 2nd pairing D-man who can serve as an effective caddie for a no. 1 D you mean

Coghlan and Chatfield aren't top 4 D-men

Then that would likely be going against the very fundamentals that helped keep the Canes cap sheet so relatively clean under the Dundon regime. Re-signing Pesce to what he's most likely gonna command as a 30 yr old pending UFA who has already had two shoulder surgeries in his career would totally flip the narrative on the front office, and don't give me the team-friendly schtick, cause there's no way Pesce and his agent aren't aware, AND TEMPTED by the exceptional demand of high-minute eating right-shot defensemen are in today's market, including next off-season when the cap rises

Massive overpay for Pesce, Myers can fetch an asset after his signing bonus is paid, and overpay for Roslovic and Peeke as well
