Boston isn't trading Zacha, wouldn't mind Beauvillier on the Jets but Idk where he'd really fit at this point.

While obviously it’s not serious as we aren’t trading our next 3 1sts, the Nashville trade specifically is pretty bad for the Canucks. Giving up the best player in the trade + a 1st for a bottom 6 forward and an okay #4/5 dman would make no sense

Ya, it's not but something had to give to free up some cap space and also bring players back on lower cap figures while providing value (defense+ from both).

They're not giving up the best player in the trade, they're dumping two bad contracts and picking up two players worth a 2nd+ to NSH.

If you want to hold onto Garland, please do. Can't see NSH having any interest in him.

IMO that’s huge overpays for both zacha and chytil. Zacha has had one good year on a crazy good team. I highly doubt he even comes close to that production again.

Garland is absolutely the best player in the trade. It’s not particularly close either. He’s a good two way 2nd line winger with elite 5v5 production who’s coming off of a slightly down season. He’s worth his contract though. Sissons is an okay 3rd liner. Fabbro is a solid #4/5 dman but nothing special

Two way? Elite? Garland's a run of the mill forward who gets $5M a year to play sheltered minutes. Sissons brings defensive play, leadership, physicality, face-off dominance, two way ability, grit, and penalty killing for over $2M a year less than Garland, who'd cry for his mommy, if he was asked to do Sisssons' job.

Yes he is a two way forward, and has put up better defensive metrics than Sissons the last couple seasons

And yes he’s been elite at 5v5. In 21/22 he was 29th in 5v5 points, with more than Rantanen, Conner, Forsberg, Nylander, B Tkachuk, Zibanejad, Debrincat, and Tavares. He also had a higher 5v5 P/60 than McDavid, Draisaitl, Pastrnak, Ehlers, J Hughes, Barkov, Ovechkin, Panarin, and Guentzel that season. And despite having a bit of a down season he still had more points than any forward currently on your roster, and a better PPG than all of them except Forsberg, Novak, and Tomasino (minimum 30 games played), while also being good defensively

I don't feel you can call a guy elite just because he tied for 29th in one particular stat for one outlier season in his career, but to each their own.

If you want to compare defensive metrics, without considering Garland's 39.6% career defensive zone starts, compared to Sissons' 71%, have at it.

If you think "still had more points than any forward currently on your roster" is a flex, without acknowledging NSH traded away a forward with more points than Garland, still has two defencemen who outscored Garland, and that Garland's 46 points is a whopping 3 and 4 more than NSH's 4th and 5th leading scorers, despite Garland playing 30 more games than either of them, I can't stop you.

You're doing some epic cherry picking here. If Garland worked on his game as much as you do to defend him, he might actually be worth his contract.

I wouldn’t consider it an outlier season when the previous season while in Arizona Garland finished top 40 in 5v5 points and top 50 in 5v5 P/60, once again finishing above quite a few elite players. He’s been very good at 5v5 for his career outside of last season before Tocchet got hired

Garland career 5v5 P/60
19/20: 2.03
20/21: 2.37
21/22: 2.62
22/23: 1.78
22/23 under Tocchet: 2.12

You’re making him out to be some scrub when he’s a good 2nd liner and would be one of your top 3 or 4 forwards

There's more to hockey than 5v5 scoring, with sheltered usage. If Garland's a 2nd liner on a bad team like ARI, VAN or NSH, it's because they don't have enough good players. That's why they're bad teams. Even if you feel Garland could be one of NSH's top 3-4 scoring forwards, I'd rather give that opportunity to any of the young players on the Preds who'll likely be better than Garland (Tomasino, Evangelista, Pärssinen, Kemell, etc.).

I'd rather have Sissons in my middle six, any day of the week.

Garland was offered around for fc, no takers...
