That's not a package that would interest the Leafs for Nylander

Quit trying to give the Pens Jarnkrok without taking any cap back....... Pens are not a dumping ground for bad cap hits as they are in a cap situation themselves, so unless Leafs are taking Granlund back in the deal in a 1 for 1 Pens say no 9/10

Preds don't give up all that for one year of Nylander.
Then an overpay by the Leafs to the Flyers
Leafs and their cap isn't any better this season......Nylander/Jarnkrok/Lafferty. is better are least as good. Konecky/Laughton/Trenin. Lilijegren is certainly superior to Smith. And the Leafs give up an additional 1st and Robertson

NSH wouldn't entertain any deal for Nylander without an extension in place. I'm almost at the point of assuming one is in place because without that, it kills the deal before it is even proposed. With an extension in place, this would be highway robbery by NSH.

Let's be factual. I can't think of one time in NHL history where a true Cup contender allowed a star player to negotiate a future contract one full season out from when his contract ends.
It's become an epidemic on CapFriendly basing trades on extensions. They just don't happen.

Hockey fans love fantasizing about offer sheets and sign and trades. But my personal favourite is when they assume how easy it will be for their teams to dump salary when they're 5-10 mil over the Cap in the summer. You know after pulling off a big sign and trade!

I fully agree with you, which is why I've never been on the boat of NSH taking Nylander, especially now. There are too many qualifications and things that either team would want in place before a trade is made. NSH is in a development season where they want to take a step back. Doesn't make sense for either team really to move or take on Nylander.

I'll be surprised if Nylander is traded. You'll never get equal value for him because he's a rental. Just enjoy his last season in Toronto before he hits UFA next July. With the Cap going up, who knows? Maybe he re-signs with Toronto? Leafs no longer have that 2 mil buyout cap hit to pay Murray next season. Maybe that goes towards keeping Nylander?
