Tommy Tatar would be a good add. You know you're getting at least 20 goals from him.

No problem, man. I've always thought Tatar was underrated.

Yes. He add score depth for the bottom six and that's exactly what Pens need right now.

If Tatar can come at that price, Dubas should be all over it.

Tatar wanted term with Devils…likely asked for $4m range. I could see maybe $3m on 1-year deal…$1m would be a steal.

One the better possession style wingers around.

Nothing says good regular season and underachieving playoffs like puting hopes in Tomas Tatar.

I assume Tatar will get 1 year x 2m. But I do agree Pittsburgh is a perfect fit.

I'm thinking 2.5 mil. It's Bargain Bin shopping Time for GM's. UFA's will have to take haircuts to get back in the NHL. Or GM's will just play their young guys playing on cheap ELCs.

Lots of players with histories of putting up good stats in the regular season and being invisible in the playoffs. Tatar isn't the first and he certainly won't be the last.

If NHL GM's signed players based solely on playoff performance the league would only consist of 50 players.

Mike Gartner scored over 700 goals and he's in the hockey Hall of Fame. Is he remembered for his outstanding playoff achievements? Crickets.

I'm betting Karlsson acquisition will be and attractive to Tatar sign a bargain contract with Pens. There're rumors about it. After Karlsson magic trade, no one can doubt Dubas anymore.

As I said, I won't doubt Dubas anymore after his magic in Karlsson's trade. And don't forget Tatar would play probably along Sid, until Guentzel come back. In a superstar team like that with Dubas as a GM, everything is on the table right now.

If Tatar can only manage $1M for 1 year that's very telling. Surely a dozen teams would have jumped on that already, yes?

Maybe. But it's a different scenario at this point. Look at Dumba contract. Less than 4M. No one expected that in the beginning of FA. But, right now, most teams have much less cap space. If he want to get more money, he'll have to play for a non-contender. I don't think any contender will give him more than 2M or 2.5M at this point.

I think we're on the same page here. Dumba is very suspect at this point. I didn't think his offer was a big surprise at all. It's a prove it deal. Tatar is a bit different. He's more proven. Yes, I think $2-2.5M for him sounds about right. If he was good with $1M NY or NJ could handle that now. I think NJ would take him back at that price. He may be waiting for teams to finish up and clear space which will happen here very soon. Several others are in that same boat.

Yeah, I think so. He's, by far, the best offensive option in FA right now and there're many teams that would like to have him. It's hard to predict where he will play, but of course I hope to see him playing in Pitt. We'll find out in few weeks.

Not sure I evaluate him as high as you do. I think we'll be doing the hockey trade route like some other teams for more substantial impact.

I'm not telling you that he's an elite player. Not even close. But I see him as a middle-6 one that can eventually even play in first line when injuries happen. When we look at FA right now, there're thin options to sign. That's why I see him as the better one.
