Seems a bit too many dollars for Laf, he still has much to prove.

What about an offer sheet for 4.2 mil? Only cost Chicago a second if not matched & NY would be stretched with Lindgren, Shesterkin, Kakko & Schneider due for raises, in some cases Big raises, next season

I would say it is automatic fired for GMs to give up on 1OA pick 21 years old and close to 0.5 per game top 9 role player for a second. He is basically forced to match it. Even if he needs to pay to get rid of Goddard he basically has to match it.

100% True... I'm just baffled what they do next season. Someone from top 6 or Trouba will need to go, I don't think there's enough money available, even with the cap going up. After being on a value contract all these years, Shesterkin will want top 5 GK money. Lindgren & Schneider, while still RFAs, will get fairly strong raises imo. Kakko wild card ... All Intriguing

This would never happen and is a bad argument:
1) Offer sheets are rare for a reason, they're nukes that every team in the league has, GMs are well aware of the consequences of them, especially after Bergevin essentially lost his job over it.
2) Rangers can stay under the cap by matching the offer sheet and won't even be in a hurry to trade Goodrow because they can hold a 20-man roster while they look to trade him before the season starts. Worst-case they run the season with a 20 man roster.
3) Because of point 2, you're looking at giving up your 1st and 3rd in an offersheet. It's in this range where the Rangers are going to struggle to match. That's already significantly more value than just a 2nd.

Not close to being enough, you're asking for a former 1OA that's not for sale. Rangers are gonna want a return appropriate for a 1OA asset and on top of that you're gonna have to overpay cause he's not for sale.

To be honest I think the plan along was to have a rebuild/retool next season. At very least I expect Goodrow and Trouba/Kreider to be moved. I do not see a future with most of the roster they have now.

If I’m the Hawks, I offer no more then our 2024 2nd round pick and one of the two players in the proposal, if the Rangers refuse, offer sheet Lafreniere for $4.2m.
