Description
Overall I’m a fan of the moves the Avs made this summer. I think Drouin and RyJo have better chances than not to rebound. However, it’s not guaranteed. There’s risk involved. So I think if they use almost all they have left on Tatar, this team looks deeper. They didn’t sign Drouin to not give him a shot next to MacKinnon. And I personally think Johansen has a chance at being a solid 2C if he has an elite player in Mikko on his wing and Nichushkin’s puck badger/forechecking/defensive abilities.

Plus us Avs fans are aware, we are straight up cursed by injuries. Every year it’s one thing after another. So they need all the help they can get. Not a fan of playing stars 25+ minutes a night this early in the year so they can be ran into the ground and/or hurt later. So this lineup would probably look different come March/April. Especially with Kovalenko coming.

And the Avs always get their guy and seem to take a flier/reclamation every year. Think they use it on Puljujarvi.

Pulju may never play in the NHL again. Tatar is a playoff ghost but they do need scoring. Not much left out there, that's for sure.

Sure seems like the Avs have prioritized playoff performers. Tatar does not fit that mold.

Oh I’m aware of his playoff production. Or lack thereof lol. But he’s one of the few people who fill a need. They need one more guy who can produce and possibly fill in the top 6 if Drouin doesn’t work or our inevitable injuries. As we all know the free agent market is so thin right now. If it’s not done now or soon via free agency I’d like to think CMac will add prior to deadline. I just don’t like waiting too long so we aren’t playing our top guys 25 minutes a night in November.

I’d be very down for either of them. Or both preferably. Cuz I’ve vocalized I don’t want Meyers AND Olofsson penciled in the lineup to start. I guess now they might be serious about giving young guys a shot. Maybe JLF can make the team. But yea of the value guys out there ZAR, Heinen, and probably Motte are ones I’d like them to look at. But neither of them play C. Hopefully Pavel makes the team and gets Meyers out of there.

Time is definitely running out for him. Reason why I picked him is cuz Avs players seem to have some pull on who they want brought in. Mack obvi has and Mikko have an interview a while backing talking about Puljujarvi. And Avs also love their reclamations/projects. Usually sign one per offseason. So that was my logic behind the Puljujarvi signing. Not exactly major headlines I know

It seems really strange that Tatar hasn’t signed with anyone. He’s a reliable 15-20 goal guy in the regular season.

Still hoping for one depth forward addition. Heinen, ZAR would be cheap enough and good enough to make Meyers, JLF, or anyone else really earn a spot

This is my ideal. I'd love to see the young guys earn some time, but I want to see them EARN it. If we can bring in some "dudes" on PTO's and our guys beat them out, that's the ideal scenario for sure.

I'd be okay with one of them, I like that they are giving foudy a shot.. the pro scouts saw something is oloffson that made them go after him, plus he can play C/W.

Also I'm not sure why people would rather see pavel make the roster ahead of Meyers, he hasn't even sniffed an NHL game before and colorados own media described pavel as good defensively but his hands turn to stone when he touches the puck.. let's not forget Meyers was the most pursued college free agent in a long time

i'd be fine with tatar, but i wouldn't want to go over 1.5 for him, i'd like to keep a little over a mil to solidify that 4C position if meyers doesn't have that energy/grit for 4th line center
