Keeping the core group

Description
if we resign toews and landy comes back, plus adding in resigning rants and byram.
is it doable? sure.
It would take some real management of the cap and center is a little thin but i've seen worse teams and at this point i think you'd be looking to move the first from this year and something to get another retained 2C for a year or two.
Wing depth i think looks good, UFA's are hard to tell who will be available at the time and for what price but it is essentially a 4C and a more physical 5/6 D.
Goaltending is an issue as well, i just selected vlader because he fits the mold of a solid back up who if given a chance might perform, i'm mostly banking on annunen in this scenario to be able to split with him in a 1A/1B role and then take the reigns in a year or 2

I would say Rantanen takes closer to 10m in favor of a better starting goalie- Vladar hasn't been great as a backup in Calgary, let alone a starter

If the Cnaucks could find a way to make the cap work (i.e. dumping Myers cap), i'd hope they'd accept that

This is tough. Overall, I like the team, but there are big question marks. There are usually enough serviceable goalies every FA year, so that's probably not a huge concern. Would love it if Annunen becomes a solid starter. I would love Dowd now...not sure what he'll be like at 35. Sissons would be a solid add. I think the biggest problem might be moving Manson in the last year of his contract when he's 33. I don't think he brings a 3rd+. It's going to be a challenge keeping the core guys and having enough depth around them.

I think it's highly unlikely he takes less than $11M

If they let Toews go, they'll have more options to fill in at F and and G and the D will still be pretty good. Ritchie is probably the only young guy with a shot of getting to the Avs roster but he's going to have to basically blow up at the junior and AHL level before they'll give him a serious look. But they're going nowhere with that goaltending.

Yeah i was thinking that was probily an overpay but that doesn't really change much, i haven't moved the 3rd. I'd think he could be moved to a team with lots of cap space then flipped for something half retained to a contender.

In two years, I could see NSH taking this for Sissons. It really depends on how some of NSH's center youth develop as this is around the time NSH is looking to come out of their soft rebuild and their may not be a spot for him at center. That said, NSH has somewhat built their bottom 6 around him, so I'm not certain if NSH would be willing to trade him if he is still the guy leading the bottom 6, especially if any one of the youth center's NSH has doesn't pan out.

I think he will get a Pastrnak deal(11.25 mill).

That makes a lot of sense, hopefully he takes that. I put 12 mil since i don't see him getting more than mack but with the cap going up again i assume it will be pretty close to it.

That was exactly what I thought when Pasta signed that deal: that's what Rants will want when he's up and he'll get it from the Avs or someone else.
