To get either Hanifin or Lindholm, the trade is almost certainly going to require at least a 1st and a prospect. Double that since you're acquiring both and then add something around a 2nd for Backlund. Now look at your offer and assess it in comparison to that.

-Mantha is either a pure cap dump that a team with cap space might view as a reclamation project (maybe a team that would take him for free).
-Oshie is really getting old and it's showing in his games played per season. While he's probably a positive asset, it's not by much due to the extra season on his contract.
-Kuznetsov is a very talented piece, but he's not someone that garners the return you likely think he should- especially not from a team in the position you've put CGY in.
-Edmunson is gonna be worth around the same as what you paid for him, but CGY wouldn't be contending after such a trade so why would they bother?

The two 2nds from '25 are probably the only two genuinely valuable pieces to the version of CGY you're proposing here. I'm an EDM fan so I say this with full contempt in my heart for the Flames: you'd need to pony up notably more than that. Start with Lapierre, Iorio, & 2 1sts and build the trade from there.

your offer only works if Calgary trades from a position of strength, but given the high risks with the extension of contracts with Hanifin and Lindholm, the Caps offer is not bad and at least gives Calgary more players for the TOP 6

The leafs currently have 2 key issues: Cap, and term. This trade addresses neither while downgrading the team considerably. There is 0 reason for the leafs to make this trade.

and why do you think that you should definitely get an equivalent asset for Willy? Can his potential contract be considered attractive? I think not. Therefore, do not expect to get a lot for it. Also, Kuemper is better than Samsonov.

Why would the Leafs trade for any of that? Backlund is a UFA next summer, Keumper will be 37 when his contract expires at an unnecessary 5.25AAV. a 2nd and 3rd doesn't do much to offset the obvious downgrade in skill between Backlund and Willy. I'd much rather keep both Sammy and Willy. I'm not convinced Willy is going to stay in TO, but this proposal is as bad, if not worse than most Leaf fan proposals.

that Flames trade is atrocious for Calgary. As is the Leafs trade for Toronto.

No cap space for TVR on Edmonton and he’s not an improvement on ceci, so oilers decline imo.

I understand the leafs will not get nylanders full value if they trade him but this trade solves none of the leafs problems. They dont get term, they dont save cap and this doesnt improve defense. Why should the leafs even contemplate this trade. You dont even give us draft assets to compensate for the lack of player value. We get worse in every aspect and take on a mediocre goalie contract that has a real possibility of ageing terribly.
