Why would WPG do this? Neither player is likely to sign an extension in WPG, especially Nylander. So WPG is in the exact same position they would have been with Scheifele but now they don't have their 1st round pick either?

How do you figure? It's not like Nylander is gonna resign, the Jets won't have a 1C and a cup this year because of Nylander is extremely unlikely.

Season 20/21, Scheifele had more points.
Season 21/22, Nylander had more but Scheifele had higher ppg.
Season 22/23, Nylander had more points but less goals.

That is not entirely accurate either actually.
In the past 3 seasons
Scheifele - 204 gp, 92g, 109a - 201p = .98 ppg
Nylander - 214gp, 91g, 118a - 209p = .97ppg

I mean this is really splitting hairs but... #justsayin
