Zadorov is a 3rd pair brute, nothing more. Gio makes the league minimum. That's as good as Zadorov at over 3. Brodie is way better

Fwiw at least evolving hockey likes them both, pretty much equally. Brodie is better defensively, Zadorov offensively, in total they're pretty equal, maybe slight edge going to Brodie but he's also older and more expensive. Add the size factor for Zadorov and he's actually quite nice piece.

Also, at least from my pov, that kind of big guy is exactly what Leafs defense needs. They don't have anyone like that. In terms of size, Klingberg is their biggest guy.

I do like the idea of Zadorov at the deadline retained. But he's a 3rd pair defender who hits a lot and does little else overly well. In the playoffs he is good to have but Brodie is better in every way apart from physicality.

Sabres can talk this trade in, let's say, January and only if Levi and UPL flops
