Armia is a 2 year cap dump, so you might be adding another pick. (IMO an Armia 2 yr cap dump at 3.4mil is probably a 2nd rounder), so you might have to add a 3rd or 4th, and even then it depends on how much faith PHI has in Farrell

Thanks for the response. So you see the deal as Farrell + mid 1st for Tippet and a 2nd to dump Armia? In that case I agree adding a 3rd is about the going rate for 6.8M over 2 years.

Based on one good year of Tippett, probably not a bad offer.

Again, it depends on how you see tippett: one good year, suddenly 24 yrs old, hitting a major payday, on a team thats stocked with young wingers (koneckny, farabee, foerster, cates, tippett, allison, brink, gautheir, mitchklov and a host of prospects) or farrell, (IMO I would say hes not a blue chip but an upper midlevel guy), but with a potentially high 1st and a 2nd is a good over offer depending on how you see both those guys/situations its a good over payment that might work for both.

Flyer fans might say no, because tippett is just arriving (at 24 yrs old), but some of them are ready to part with 26 yr old koneckny. MTL fans might say no because the 1st might be a top 10 pick.

A deal no one likes can sometimes be a fair deal. I think Tippet is a good fit for the Habs and I think Philly is committed to at least a 2-3 year rebuild.

The value is right but I don’t see the flyers taking it because they don’t have a reason to move him except for an overpayment. Tippett very well could have an insane year and I think the flyers want to bet on that instead of cashing in

There’s no point adding picks and prospects tk getting rid of Armia. He has 2 years left and we have tons of cap space or at least can make it all fit and don’t really need cap space. Just let it run off for at least another year and then you can reassess.

No point adding all this stuff for something you don’t really need

Glad the value is wright at least. I assume they are planning to deal Tippet & Konecny at the TDL if the market conditions are right. Maybe Tippet in the offseason. I doubt they want to sign him long term with the start of their window being 3-4 years away (not saying they will be terrible for 3-4 years, just that they should not expect to seriously compete).

Yeah idk. TK I think will be moved by this time next year. But I do think Tippett is young enough that if he is like 27-28 by the time they are ready to compete that they are okay with that so I’m not sure he gets dealt unless a crazy offer comes in over the next 2 years

Who knows. I think it would make more sense to convert him into 2-3 assets that will all be "ready" in 3-5 years, but I am by no means saying it's the only way to go.

Yes I get it. But he takes up space and ice time he does not deserve and it sends the wrong message. Unless they are willing to send him to Laval, they should do what they can to move him out.

Yeah I don’t disagree with you and since ur including ur 1st then it will be a lottery pick more than likely which helps us revamp our blue line in a D-heavy draft. But I think they believe Tippett has star potential, whether that happens or not who knows, and I think they expect him to take another big jump next year before determining what to do with him because he will be an RFA still next off-season so they still have total control over what to do with him

I did say "Top 10 protected pick" in the trade, but I guess that would fail to 2025. I expect Habs will pick 11-16 next draft FWIW.

Habs arent trading their 1st in 2024. Its going to be a top 10 pick and Owen Tippett isnt worth that pick

Then bench him or send him to Laval. You’re adding way too many premium assets just to open up a 4th line wing spot
