Description
Couple notes:
Mantha on line two, Carbery uses him properly and he can make up for some of Kuznetsov's defensive inadequacies. Same goes for McMichael in terms of use.
Milano is the perfect fit for Backstrom and Oshie until one of them is inevitably injured.
When Pacioretty returns, I can see Aube-Kubel waived, Malenstyn/Frank sent down, McMichael moves to the bench and Patches moves to line 2. Could also put Milano on line 4, and putting either Patches or McMichael on line 3.
Mantha and McMichael timeshare on PP2 until one of them becomes clearly better than the other.

My one hot take (though I don't have it here): Alexeyev excels and beat out Edmundson for the 3LD spot, and Carbery trusts him due to familiarity between the two from Hershey.

Shepard should be the first call up, but I highly doubt he beats out Lindgren in camp.

I don't think he will either, but the cap positives brought by waiving him make me at least consider the possibility of Shepard staying up. I'm not as high on him as most are but the 400k difference in salary could be extremely valuable.

I don’t think there is a roll in Chicago for Lindgren now but he is actually someone I thought they should be interested in before last season, I think he is a good depth goalie for some team.

I thought the caps couldnt put Pax on LTIR to start the season since he was signed when injured. Idk maybe I'm wrong

I don’t think there’s any rule about that but I don’t know that they’ll do it because Pacioretty might be ready to play before he misses the 10 games / 24 days you need to miss to qualify for LTIR.

Fair. Watching him through the Calder run, I just don't see Shepards play style translating to the NHL that well. Seems to clunky to me. However, I also said the exact same thing about Vanacek when he was in Hershey and Adin Hill when he first came up in Arizona, so who knows. I'm super excited about Stevenson and Gibson getting looks in Hershey this year though

I think instead of waiving Lindgren they'll roll with 22 skaters until Pacioretty is ready to come back and then make decisions from there. Kuemper is beginning to build a bit of an injury history, and Lindgren did a good job filling in when he went down for a while. Frank can develop more in Hershey to keep better goaltending depth
