This is always funny

"Start with one" for guys that are on the same level as Petey (Dahlin/Tage)

If Vancouver ****s the bed again & petey wants out it will look similar to an Eichel trade. Probably a little more.

Much more similar to a Tkachuk trade then Eichel. Pettersson would be a much more valuable asset

Thompson isn’t on the same level as Pettersson. Dahlin is so that would be a 1 for 1

Petey would get more than Eichel. He’s a better player than Eichel and doesn’t need career threatening neck surgery. You’d be looking at the value of the Tkachuk trade minimum

Why, unless it's a sign and trade, he's a RFA with Arb. Rights

He's a lot better then Eichel was and he doesn't have the concern about Eichels neck injury

Until this year they basically had the same stats, Pettersson exploded this year. Tkachuk got what he got because it was a Sign and trade, would probably have been different if not. So unless it's a sign and trade I wouldn’t think he gets what Tkachuk got.

You're right, asking for a player of similar caliber is absolutely outrageous. How dare the Canucks ask for a team's top player when trading their top player!

The return will be much bigger than Eichel because a) Pettersson is objectively a far better player than Eichel was. Eichel never had a 100 point season being top 10 in Selke votes. and b) Pettersson doesn't have a career threatning neck injury and a terrible relationship with the organization fueling drama and controversy

Tkachuk trade wouldn't be a good comparable. That was an example of Calgary trying to stay a contender by acquiring 2 top roster players for a win now team. That is not the type of package the Canucks would look for

Seeing as how Pettersson is a significantly more valuable asset than Eichel, I'd imagine that he would get a much bigger return than Eichel.

Sure, but again he is a RFA with Arb. Rights. He is not signed. Tkachuk got that return because he signed, but if Pettersson gets traded as a RFA IMO changes the cost.

Other than this year, they have been statically almost the same and Eichel played on some crappy teams.

Except this year absolutely happened, and lets not pretend like Vancouver has been a contender these past few years. Points wise, they were close, but Pettersson has always had very good defensive metrics

Yes it did and he's a fabulous player. Still doesn't change the fact he's not signed after this year. He has Arbitration Rights and can basically walk himself into FA

His main focus right now is to win. Money isn't even a problem. I'd imagine he would sign with a team like the Sabres who are on the rise if he was traded there. The difficult part would be getting the Canucks to let go of him.

Eichel got a more valuable package than Tkachuk. Tkachuk got 2 30 year old rentals that needed a big contract. Eichel got a valuable prospect + a very promising 24 year old signed with term.

Why do you completely ignore the context lmao? Petey would be asking out because your team is trash again. He would be refusing to sign a contract with the team. You don't get a player of the same caliber back in that scenario. You don't get rewarded for screwing up the early career of your star player.

Don't forget the biggest part. Eichel was already signed. Petey isn't.

Thompson is around the same level. This is goofy.

Tage 162 points (85 goals) in 156 games last 2 seasons

Petey 170 points (71 goals) in 160 games last 2 seasons

Just because the guy got some 3rd-6th place Selke votes for the first time doesn't make him on a different level than Tage. Tage is also on an extremely good contract. Petey would be making 3M+ more with his new deal.

Eichel got a better return than Tkachuk? Like Krebs + Tuch is better than 2 30 year old rentals that needed huge contracts.

Absolutely not 😂. Factor in the defense where Pettersson is Selke caliber and Thompson is near the worst in the league. That’s a Huge difference

Two "30 year old rentals" is just completely ignoring who they were. One of them was just the second highest producing NHL player and was 5th in MVP voting. The other was a 28 year old Dman who got a few norris votes and is a top 30 NHL dman.
