Replying just so I can watch it happen.

For the record, getting Jarvis back plus a year of Pesce is a good return if they don't want to pay Nylander in the 9-10 mill range. Essentially, you're trading a year of Nylander for a year of Pesce and getting Jarvis in there as well. From Carolina's perspective, this is ALL contingent upon re-signing Nylander. If they can do it, this should be something the strongly consider.

If they can resign Nylander to something that allows everybody to resigned then I'd take this deal

Yup. BUT and this is not a bias against the Leafs, his track record is so scary for contracts that it will almost have to be a sign and trade type of thing to get any deal like this done. No one in the cap era has held out for as long as he did. It's why I don't want him near the Avs and why I understand a trade is unlikely to happen.

So why would the Canes even consider this? Say want you want about the Pesce-Nylander swap, but adding Jarvis is overkill. If the Leafs really wanted Jarvis, I guess they never should have dumped Marleau.

Value is there but I don’t like the main piece coming back being a defender

In the short-term, it's Pesce. In the long-term, the main piece is Jarvis.

Jarvis is only 21 he's only going to get better and he's played well in the playoffs in a substantial role already.
Plus he's an RFA, so he'd be under team control for a while.
