Mason Geertsen is one of the last real goons left in hockey. He adds no value on the ice, other than punching faces. A couple years ago, Devils claimed him off waivers and he spent a year sitting in press box.

I remember. We originally signed him for one pre-season game and he stuck around. We played NYR in first pre-season contest and torched them 7-1. It got a little chippy at end and we were scheduled to face them again a few games later. So we grabbed him off waivers. In that next matchup with NYR, there were a couple of fights (mostly stemming from Subban hit on Reaves). So he stuck as 23rd guy. (And he made guys laugh, so they wanted him around).

We lost Wedgewood because Blackwood wasn’t honest about his health (he should have been put back on IR). Studenic was no loss.
