Isn't that the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. I really don't think those UFAs want to return. And how has it improved the Jets? Just paying the same guys the more money.

That Hellebuyck contract is a boat anchor.

Jets can’t get that old, need to sell the guys to speed up the retool/or kickstart the rebuild, can’t afford to have them to retirement and lose the value in the player. Unless the squad is happy with player milestone nights and jersey retirement nights, over the possibility of winning the last possible game of the year.

Next years free agency seems to be a year where there is a lot of cap room available. Do you think with your two pending free agents sign before then for only 4 years on their last pay day? Buying players out of next years FA is going to be expensive

Demelo would be curious as to why the other guys got big deals and he didn’t…Toronto could match and prolly more and he goes home.

We haven't truly seen this version yet, with a full season of Namestnikov, Nino, Vilardi and Iafallo, but like you I don't have high expectations beyond a bubble wild card team.

55 has baggage, and goalies are volatile from year to year, I don't think they would get more on the open market, but we shall see. The players probably realize the lack of interest and will take the Jets offer.

I could see another two years of high end goaltending after this year, maybe the last few years of that money will be onerous, but Helle can mentor the Jets goalie prospects in the latter years.

Chevy has shown that he is conservative and won't make big splashed unless forced to, the conservative move is to resign your own free agents.

Sure fire way to the middle, especially in a small market, that would have to overpay or bargain hunt free agents, mediocre results at best, unless our drafts are all home runs

Next year has cap room for teams and while I think the numbers are close in terms of AAV, I’d be surprise if they sign for less than 5 years with the room available.

Considering the circumstances , I though the Jets did quite well in the PLD trade. Gee, let's say the Jets are more than a middling team this season, with their upcoming UFAs having strong seasons, are the Jets then sellers at TDL or not?

Villardi is very talented. If he stays healthy, he has a top shelf skill and should be a good 1C long term

Iaffalo is one of those players who gets type cast as only a 3rd liner, but he’s great defensively and does all the little things that make others around him better by doing the dirty work. Always first to forecheck and retrieving the pucks in the corner. He skill set doesn’t awe you, but the more you watch him … the more you defend him against the people that typecast him. He will quickly become a fan favorite

Kapuri was deemed a good prospect, but he’s always seemed meh to me when I’ve watched him play. Maybe a change of scenery.

Scheife and Helle sign for 7x $8.5, my values weren't far off, just a lot shorter smile
