Description

Vatrano is a great hard worker type. Obviously only works if Stammer wants to take a discount, but Vatrano would be a great addition on the 2nd line. Gustafsson can rotate with De Haan as 6D. I figure it’s best to split Hedman, Sergachev and Cernak on separate pairs to have one solid anchor on each pair. I like Sheary on the 3rd line and Motte is solid for the 4th line. Not the best team in the league, but I think they can go up against anyone in a 7 game series (yes I’m biased). Big hope that Alnefelt can platoon with Vasy to help manage his workload and keep him rested and fresh come playoffs.

Trying something out of the box. I love Vatrano’s style of play and it is a steep price to pay, but I look at it as giving the core a boost in the middle six to help make another push for a cup. Rebuild can happen in due time, but for now I’d rather let it roll and try to win.

If I’m being honest I’d prefer to cap it at like $5 mil for 3 years, but he’s outproduced Giroux and Malkin lately and they each got more money. Hoping he takes a discount but I’m not counting on it.

That's a boatload to give up for Vatrano. Interesting idea and I like the player but I think we're better off trying to fill that hole through FA next summer

I’m definitely with you on it being steep. Just worried it’d be quite tough to get a similar player under $2 mil in UFA, but I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to it. Any potential ideas or fits you can think of?
