I just can’t wait until Pinto signs so we can stop all these awful trades

That is quite possibly the worst return for Pinto I have seen on this site yet and I've seen hundreds over the past week. Well done.

Agreed. As an OTT and VAN fan I can say with certainty this is an abysmal trade for OTT. Rathbone is an incredibly meh player. If a player isn't good enough for VAN's 3rd pairing they sure won't make it in OTT.

Everyone will understandably rag on the Pinto trade, but there's absolutely no way the Sharks send draft capital back to take on Myers either

Rathbone and Dorian spotted at Kettleman's on Bank St Thursday so who's laughing now.

Honest question: what do you think he's worth in draft capital?

In terms of pure value, at the very least a 1st and a 2nd.

Considering that Ottawa doesnt want to trade him youd probably have to add something else a la Alex Newhook trade.

Interesting. Canucks definitely couldn't make that deal. That's more than it took to land JT Miller in his prime on a bargain deal.

The market has definitely shifted since then but keep in mind that Miller was 24 at the time of the deal and his best season totals 6 years in were 20 goals 50 points at 5+m/year. Pinto is 22 coming off a year lost to injury and a rookie season which saw him put up 20 goals and 15 assists and will hopefully sign for half of that. Also as I mentioned, Newhook is the same age from the same draft and held in similar regard to Pinto and just went for a 1st, 2nd and C level prospect.

Pinto is younger, cheaper and as a high floor right shot defensive minded center will provide value even if the production doesnt increase exponentially like Miller's did.
