I'm fairly certain that neither CHI nor TOR want that trade.

CHI declines. If Nylander has any interest in going to CHI, he can wait until free agency. If CHI has any interest in Nylander, they can wait to see if he makes it to free agency. They are not buyers right now.

Also, if CHI were going to be interested in any of TOR's "core 4", I think I would prefer Marner overall.

Marner isn't available. And CHI is buying the opportunity to sell and exclusively negotiate with Willy... which I think they could do and get him his contract.

Maybe right now... I think Klingberg will have a solid year and return to a better version of himself upping his stock. I think the Flames could use a puck mover/QB and Tanev will not be resigning with the Flames, or at least I don't think they should re sign him... They have a lot of good rugged Dmen there, and they need some finesse.

Yea I don't like it either... I have this sense that because of Nylander's demeanor around his contract (I think teams know he isn't emotional about it, and the market won't be as big as it should be), that Chicago has the space and the players to make the deal... I actually don't think they should trade Nylander... but some more sandpaper, and a young winger with cup pedigree plus a first isn't bad.

Toronto won't win the deal, unless they win a cup... player for player, you will lose the Nylander trade anywhere in the league bc you won't find 80 pts for 6.9M... I

I didn't say Marner was available. I'm just saying if there was any big ticket TOR player that CHI would be interested in, regardless of availability, I think Marner makes the most sense. I doubt CHI would have much interest in Nylander unless he is willing to take 4 years or less. But even then, it doesn't really make sense for CHI to do it unless they think they are going to be a serious playoff team in 24-25, which I highly doubt they have any intention of being. They certainly could attempt to, and probably be successful, but they would give up so much that it would conflict with their philosophy of building for "long term success".

If the Flames trade Tanev it won't be for an expiring UFA, it'll be picks/prospects.

I think any Nylander trade comes with the assumption he gets extended. Otherwise nobody would trade for him as a deadline rental.... unless the leafs absolutley have a disastrous year.

When the leafs drafted 34, they made the playoffs year one. I think the Hawks have a generational talent there and could surprise some people

34 also stepped into the league with a much better roster around him.
