A disaster of a trade for Detroit. Yzerman isn't going to give up a young middle six forward that's cheap just to swap goalies and be out 4 millions in cap and three draft picks. A move like this doesn't help Detroit at all.

Zero chance Winnipeg does that. There isn't a single appealing or needed piece for Winnipeg.

With all due respect, huh?

Helly > Husso
Schmidt > Chiarot
Namestikov ~ Berggren (not good comparison to each other, but let's call them similar for arguments sake)
So the 2nd & 3rd this year are the balance to get Schmidt, but a 1st that is 3 drafts away has limited value and does not get you Helly. Like @Windjammer said, WPG does not do this; and DET should be jumping at this IF GMSY really thinks this is the year to go for the playoffs and Helly extends

Don't forget, DET saves a year on Husso vs Helle and a year on Chiarot vs Schmidt. Cap flexibilty for the future, getting rid of 2 under performers.

Detroit has three goalie prospects that are good in Cossa, Bednář, and Augustine. They don't need to pay over the top for a goalie that is on the wrong side of 30.

Namestnikov was traded away by Detroit only 18 months ago, they're not going to give up a young forward with top-6 potential to get him back.

Schmidt may be roughly equal to Chiarot but Chiarot is a 3rd pair defender or even a #7 in Detroit so there is no need to worry about him. We don't need the cap and we have players that will replace him in our own system, there's no need to trade him.

This trade makes zero sense for Detroit. We would be taking on almost 4 million in cap and we'd lose a 1st round pick, a 2nd round, pick, and a 3rd round pick and a good young player and a good goalie only to to get two old players we don't need nor want and a goalie that may or may not be better than what we already have but for how long?

Detroit is not going to be a contending team for another 3-4 years until when their top draft picks are maturing. They're not in a position to trade futures for players that will not be here when that time comes.

They are 100% correct, Winnipeg is in no position to be giving up a Vezina goaltender for a bag of pucks. Husso is a good backup, chariot we don't need back, and Namestikov is better than Berggren (although not great comparison), the late first doesn't make sense, and the 2nd and 3rd don't really help.

He posted the same deal a half dozen or so times in the ACGM forum. It appears he's just trolling, no one could be that ignorant of player values without trying.

Yep. Wrong timeline for DET to make this move
