Quoting: Dekes
I think Carlo deserves a little more respect then just being called a role player.
Carlo has been at the top of the league for defensive dman efficiency/ production for the last 3 years. He arguably plays the hardest minutes out of all the dman on B’s roster, since mcavoy receives way more Ozone starts
I did not mean to disparage him. Carlo is a good defensive dman on good contract, but with this package overall, there is not much more upside there. So I am lumping him in with Geekie and Mitchell here as a package of 'role players'.
-- Carlo, 26, good defensive 2RD, 537 career GP. Good contract $4.1 x 4 years. But he is what he is, not much more upside expected.
-- Geekie, 25, 204 career GP. $2m x 2 years, Again, he is what he is, one does expect more upside.
-- Mitchell, 24, 82 career GP. League Min salary. Has shown a little more offense at AHL level, so maybe a little more upside left.
They are three young(ish) guys who may have hit or come close to hitting their max potential.
I would mix a guy like Carlo with a couple of guys with some promise
-- Carlo, Lohrei, Kuntar?
-- Carlo, Merkulov, Walsh?
-- Carlo, Lysell?
-- Carlo, Beecher, Brunet?
...and so forth
