Personal issues aside Kuznetsov is equal in value to Trochek, Kuz is much better offensively and Trochek is more well rounded.
Then you add salary retention to it, 8th overall Leonard and a 3rd for an ECHL goalie, a 2nd Rd prospect with less than a PPG in the slovak league, a 2nd and 4th?

Caps decline Kuznetsov with retention for Trocheck one for one. Kuznetsov for Trocheck no retention maybe. You're not getting Leonard unless you're sending back something significant back, an NHL-ready younger player. Think Lafreniere or Kakko. Otherwise, there is zero chance the caps are moving Leonard. He's going to make an impact in the NHL in the next year and a half more than likely. This trade is so out of the realm of any sort of possibility.

Even if you took out Leonard, no shot the Caps take that Trochek contract. He's a great, well rounded player, but with the Caps future looking pretty murky, bringing in a guy who is signed for the next four decades doesn't make sense at all with our timeline.

Totally agree. I think Kuzy would rather go back to the KHL then play for Lavy again. Sounds like that whole situation was an absolute mess
