I'd take Lafferty, for sure but who gets waived when Frankie comes off the LTIR? They can probably afford to lose Tufte but maybe don't want to. I can't see them waiving KMac even if they should before anyone else; would he get claimed?

This is my concern too. You’re giving up an asset for a 4th liner and handcuffing yourself more down the line when Francouz comes back from injury and Kovalenko comes from the KHL. Lafferty is better than Tufte, but both would play 10 mins a night in a very sheltered role. Is Lafferty worth the extra pick and cap challenges over Tufte or someone similar?

Why not just sign Stastny instead? He lives in Colorado and wants a cup, seems like a fit to me.

Yeah those are valid points. Think the Avs would probably be more comfortable doing this sort of trade at the TDL rather than now. Making a waiver claim (Alisson) makes more sense than trading assets right now).
