Winnipeg shouldn't pay that much for a bottom pairing RHD. They have plenty of bottom pairing guys.

Overpay for Peeke. A second is probably fine because of outbidding, say, Vancouver or Toronto who also need a stay at home RD. It doesn't need to be Montreal's. And a third is probably sufficient.

Would be great to snag Garland but the Nucks wouldn't retain and the Jets org has an Appleton boner so he isn't going anywhere, wonder what Apples extension will look like,
maybe $4.5M×7... 🤔... 😆

They're not burying Schmidt in the AHL, personally I'd keep Gus and see if he develops into a 3C.

I do like the thought of getting Andrew Peeke as a right hand D-man for the Jets (its a need). A physical/shot blocking, 6-3 stay at home younger D-Man is a start point for the Jets and getting this type of deal done at a reasonable cost is important. Bottom pairing perhaps, but 20 minutes a night over the past 2 years should be a taken seriously.

That's true. He'd be okay to add, but the cost has to be right. Giving up a promising young player, which the Jets don't have an abundance of and a very high 2nd for a bottom pairing guy that can can acquired for far less isn't a good plan.

I'm not against acquiring Peeke, just at overpaying so drastically for him.

I agree with your comments regarding the cost of retaining a guy like Peeke, but believe he is a 2nd pairing D-man based on his stats, size and his defensive style of game especially from the right side. Watching the game last night, #88 has to be addressed some way (moved).
