now that Dach is gonna be out, Habs are obviously not gonna be remotely competitive. Ensure they suck hard for a top pick, give lots of ice time to promising young players to see if they're for real, and get something for some of the tradeable players they have

I can definitely understand why ANA and VAN would say no - the VAN one is more of a fun one. But if Calgary loses Hanifin, I think they'd be silly to not take that Matheson deal

I get that perspective, but Monahan is still actually decent. Even without Dach, I'm not sure Montréal can be bottom of the league with guys like Monahan and Matheson still around

Savard has been worse than Myers for the last 3 years. Both are bad, would much rather have the one with 1 year left

If I am Calgary I am not moving Suniev for a veteran middle pair defensive defenseman.

While Savard is cheaper, he's a marginal improvement over Myers at best. However, the extra year of term is a big no for the Canucks. They're right at the cap and will need all the space they can get this coming offseason to extend Petey and Hronek and find a replacement top 4 RHD for Myers.
