Ok so realistically that’s not a the true 3rd line. It’s a shake up line. If TK is 3rd line for the full season then either he’s not that good/the rest of the team is better and PHI is a contender/coach is in need of firing. Safe to say the contender situation isn’t happening. Pretty sure we all(hockey fans) know TK is good and top 6 worthy as an understatement. Now, if that line stays together and actually produces big numbers then it will be considered there top line or 2nd line. And I could see this actually being a 2nd line or better.

Tippett? Really? This guy has one decent (not even that good) season and all of a sudden all his previous dud seasons are forgotten?

We were gifted the easiest path? Really? No. We were smart going into a rebuild when our players had some value. The flyers will be the Buffalo Sabres of the future because you guys went into the rebuild kicking and screaming and throwing a tantrum like a child.

Going back to our 3rd line:
Trocheck: The guy who had over 60 points last year?
Wheeler: The guy who had over 50 points last year?
Cuylle: Looking like a natural on that line...

Our 3rd lines aren't even comparable. Yours is looking like an alright 3rd line for a bottom filter feeding team like the Flyers, our 3rd line looks like the line built for the bright lights of the Big Apple.

Goals aren't everything for a player too. Cates isn't a goal scorer, but he's one of the stronger defensive forwards in the game. Tippett never got time on a stacked Panthers team so he needed a change and got time to shine. TK is probably a 2nd line winger on a contender.

If you think bringing on Blake Wheeler will make the failures of last year's playoffs change you're definitely optimistic. The Devils and Hurricanes will likely crush you, just like you will crush us in the regular season.

Edit: How did we go into a rebuild having a tantrum? Old management had a tantrum because they refused to believe we needed a rebuild. New management fully embraced the idea of a rebuild.

I like Hathaway and his value on the fourth line / chemistry with Deslauriers & Poehling but depending on how many spots that upgrade would be, I'd consider it. I think Goodrow's contract isn't that unreasonable and getting the opportunity to get a more favorable draft pick would be good for the team even with taking on a longer and higher AAV contract. If it's only moving up 5-10 spots, I'd rather not but once we start pushing 20+, that would be in the money
