I think it should be pretty clear that the Jackets aren't looking for another defenseman, let alone one with a much higher cap hit

It’s not like you guys are close to the cap ceiling is Brodie is miles better regardless the leafs don’t do this

Not sure what your definition of close is but they are over $80m right now and the deal would put them roughly $1m shy of the ceiling

Either way, this deal doesn’t address the issue that we have too many D (and also too many F). If you want to take a flyer on Bemstrom or something, and maybe retain a mil, it might be something.
