Not a bad offer for Elmer but Detroit still declines. The upside with a player like Söderblom is too high to trade away.

Not interested in moving Soda for what would be considered lesser pieces.

But he would be the best 4C in the league... (actually more of a 3A/3B scenario here).

Fair enough - I want Soda for the same reason you want to keep him. However, we don't have much to trade out exept picks and prospect.

Understandable. Honestly unless it's a massive overpay, and this is good value to be honest, there isn't a reason to trade him. Like Montreal, Detroit has a bunch of interesting mid tier prospects, so adding more in exchange for what could be a higher tier one isn't that interesting.

Yeah - we are in a similar scenario than DET... all rebuilding but didn't get any high picks in a draft with a McDavid, Matthews, Bédard, Hughes... We'll have a line up filled with great Top 6 players... but no true elite player exect for one sexy winger and a great RHD (we hope).

Yeah, that 2020 draft especially hurts. Worst team in the league and drops to 4th overall.

Ended up a blessing in disguise when you look at Laffy and Byfield! I doubt they would have picked Timmy at 1st.

I read an article a bit after the draft saying Stevie at Stutzle at #1. Who knows if that's true though.

Yzerman will be patient with Soderblom. Unique blend of skill with size. He's not going anywhere.

I believe it. I remember when Yzerman was over in Europe scouting him. He seemed to talk more about him than Laffy.

I agree. That is a lot to give up for a 6th round pick. But Soderblom is Detroit's unicorn so he currently has a lot of value to Detroit. That being said from a Detroit fan's pov that is a very reasonable offer.

Futures don’t do much for Vegas. Roy is too valuable, but this is certainly the best price I’ve seen for him

Off course, the guy overpaid as **** but those trades are just super unrealistic
The guy make trades that doesn’t make sense for both teams … need talent to do that

None of the players traded from a habs perspective will have a better impact in the show. And we have enough picks - and newsflash... KH already said that he would be looking to trade those extra picks for complimentary assets.

But by all mean... keep all the undersized middle 6 wingers you want... you'll surely win the Cup with that. We've been a small team for the last 25 years... not much success. Somehow... every other team in the league managed to find BIG AND FAST players except the habs.

Those assets are meaningless - just like Barron and a 2nd was meaningless for COL when they put their hand on Lehkonen. It's about acquiring players to make a difference instead of picking up another Mesar, Brett Lernout, Beaulieu, etc...

You have zero hockey knowledge, it's sad tbh. I don't have the energy to talk to you. I will just say MTL won't be a playoffs team for another 3-4 years. You barely upgraded the team above, instead of drafting top 5 we would be drafting top 10. At the cost of a 1st round pick, two 2nd round picks, former 2nd round pick Jesse Ylonen who looks like a NHL regular, former prospect Riley Kidney who stock only rised, a good prospect in Sean Farrell who destroyed the NCAA and a 4th liner in Jake Evans. All that for : two guys listed on the 4th line ... MTL current management : Drafted a big power forward in Juraj Slafkovsky. Traded for a big forward with high potential in Kirby Dach and they recently drafted a big RHD defenseman in David Reinbacher. Yes they traded for a smaller player in Newhook with those extra assets, but they believe he has top 6 potential. You don't trade 1st round pick / 2nd round pick for 3rd/4th liner unless you are a contender ... so after all I did wasted my time

And you are underestimating the value of a great 3rd and 4th line... Not all players can play in our top 6... only 6 and guys like Ylonen, Farrell and Kidney will not and SHOULD not be in our top 6 and are worthless on a bottom 6 role.

We have too many propect that are top 6 or middle 6 - However, our top 6 is set to be filled with much more valuable players. Nic Roy was an integral part of VGK'S cup run and is one of the best 3rdC in the league. Just like a Danault (**** I miss him). I would gladly pay less for these players - but it's the market - just look at Hagel last year.

Soderbloom is a Slaf clone.

For every Ylonene who looks good -there is 4 Ikonen who disappear.

I don't underestimated a good 3rd/4th line, MTL don't have a real 1st line, 3rd line & 4th line
They don't have a true top pairing and 2nd pairing on the backend
They don't have a starter either
Getting Roy and Soderblom only HELPS the 3rd/4th line but you won't be able to get 1st liner / top 4 defenseman if you trade your top picks
You are just delusional it's sad like I said

After another top 5 pick this year we'll have

Slaf - Dach -Caufield
Top 5 pick - Suzuki - Newhook/Roy

at D:

Ghules - Reinbacher
Hutson - Mailloux
Harris/Wifi - Kovy/Barron

If that isn't enough for you - then yeah, sell everyting and rebuild some more. But I think KH wants to run with that core. All the other shortcoming can be filled with UFA as well when will have 30M in cap space in 2024.

but a 2025 first round pick won't be ready to even crack that line-up until that core is 28 - aka entering the decline.

Slaf won't be 1st line winger caliber next year
Dach will probably have take a step back because of his injury
Caufield (hey a real first liner)
Top 5 pick ... you mean we need a top 2 pick (Celebrini or Eiserman). After there's a lot of good defenseman and only Demidov and Catton (as for now)
Only Celebrini and Eiserman will be NHL ready in 2024-2025
Newhook isn't a top 6 quality player right now, he is a 3rd liner showing he has upside
Roy needs to prove he can play in a top 6, good start in the AHL tho
Guhle right now is a top 4 dman with top pairing upside
Reinbacher could start in Laval next year
Hutson will start in Laval next year
Mailloux will start in Laval next year

MTL to be competitive needs
(1st liner)-Suzuki-Caufield
Slafkovsky-Dach-(2nd liner)
Newhook-(solid 3C)-Anderson
RHP-Evans-Ylonen

Newhook could be move at C if Roy is the real deal

But MTL have guys like Dvorak, Gallagher still around the team

Guhle-Savard
Matheson-Barron
Xhekaj/Harris/Kovacevic

MTL won't compete for a while, expect a top 10 pick in 2024 AND 2025
