Aiming for a Cup in a few years

Description
My hot take is that the Rangers as currently constructed will not win a Stanley Cup and it would be in their best interest to embrace an aggressive retool. Not a tanking style rebuild, but a retool that involves selling our high end players for top tier prospects and picks. This new roster would ideally cook for a few years and then be ready to truly contend after that.

Zibanejad isn't a number one centre on a Cup Winning Team. However he would be a perfect and extremely high end 2C on a Cup Winning Team. At 4.25m AAV he's cheaper and better than JK, and is a perfect fit to play behind Aho on the depth chart for win-now-mode Carolina.

He had a rough start and his development was screwed in so many ways. But he never complained. He put his head down, worked hard, and look at him now. I don't know how you can be a Ranger fan and not be a Chytil fan. I don't care that he hasn't scored yet (he actually did but Lafreniere was offside and ruined it). This comment just proves to me that you must not actually watch the games. The Panarin Chytil Alexis line is the best line we have. Trochek is fine but he absolutely does not look better than Chytil.

Chytil is better and more valuable than Zibanejad. And he's in the right headspace unlike Zibanejad.

I’ve never said demote Chytil you moron. I’m saying he hasn’t done anything in 4 games yet you’re trading Mika who has 5 assist and chytil who has 1 point

He is that caliber. If he was stapled to the first line since 18yo and allowed to cook with good line mates and PP time he would be a top 10, maybe even top 5 centre in the league.

His literal only weakness is face-offs. He's fast, never afraid to shoot (and has a fantastic shot), big and strong, and defensively responsible. Plus he doesn't take nights off like Zibanejad and others. You just don't want to accept that he is a top-tier player in the league because of his draft position. I bet you think Kakko is better than Chytil. Hughes isn't better than Chytil he just has the 1OA pedigree and was given more opportunities than Chytil.

Good. So my Rangers should have no problem holding onto Chytil for the rest of his career. And they should have no problem pawning off Zibanejad to any other team (31 whole options) and getting a huge haul in return because he's soooooo valuable. Zibanejad for the Sharks 2024, 2025, and 2026 1st round picks, what say you?

Who cares? The points will come. I'm more worried about the effort level. Chytil puts in 100% every single night. Can't say the same for anyone else on the team not named Adam Fox, Igor Shesterkin, Ryan Lindgren, Jacob Trouba and Will Cuylle. Mika is a 2C. Chytil destroys him according to the eye test

He'll put up more points than Zibanejad and he'll actually be productive in the playoffs. He's already more productive than Zibanejad at 5v5 and put up 45pts in 74 games last year. Mika is not that good. I watch this team night in and night out. Chytil has a much higher upside

Okay so let me try to think this one out. Hmmmmmm. Okay because I’m a Vegas fan I’ll give a Vegas example. Nic Roy is better then Jack Eichel just because he doesn’t have any nights off. Like that logic is so ****ing dumb. Yes Nic Roy is great and I love him (best 4th line Center in the league by the way) but obviously Jack Eichel is better. Like how is a fan of his own team this dumb. Doesn’t make sense

Good grief debbie downer! Imagine trading our only hope Igor to the swamp!? I'm the biggest Chytil supporter but he's no Mika, neither is Kotka, McLeod or Eller lol. The funniest part is retaing 4.25m on Mika, making Kotka 7x 9.1m !!

Mika is not your problem. He's better defensively, has a better shot (slapper from the circle is deadly), is a better passer, is more physical, can actually take faceoffs, and knows how to skate up ice without getting his head taken off, avoiding injury. I love Chytil's potential and tools and believe he will continue improving (he's maybe more like a young Mika before we acquired him), but your eyes are deceiving you if you think Chytil is better than Mika, or is in any way poised to be anywhere near the leader Zib is now in the next 4 years.
