Since he's on LTIR he has to miss a minimum of 10 reg season games so iunno i feel like it was some funny business/convenience so we don't loose him on waivers

I think this has been happening in the league unfortunately it's a flaw in the cap system and plus it's too tight lately needed to move a bit higher the past couple of years....but then again I ask if it really is happening it's hard to say, maybe even small bumps or bruises the team says go on ltir make sure it's perfect or we have to put you on waivers lol because I think when they come off ltir they are waiver exempt to play in the minors for conditioning but I'm not sure how long that last....overall it's weird for sure.

Brodie and Oleksiak would have to waive and RD has not improved it's become worse. This team can't make any kind of a move without someone waving. They have RFA's which won't keep them under the cap and are the future. So unless someone goes on LTIR down the road and comes back at playoff time, this is the team.

If that's what's going on the NHLPA would likely kick up a fuss. Timmins being forced not to play despite being able to do so would limit his earning capacity so why would he agree to that? If he misses too many games nobody will pay him well when his contract expires next off-season.

I agree there's too many reasons why it doesn't make sense to force players to sit on ltir...maybe waivers is less desirable or the minors is worst and they want to keep him healthy and ready but most of all it's just not a healthy fully ready to play guy on ltir there's no way.

No question there will be ltir guys 3-4 weeks of time off

But what if you have 2 guys day to day injury there aren't 2 guys to fill their spot because of the cap, my trade doesn't address that but it is pretty risky

If he was on a two-way deal with less salary in the AHL then yeah he's probably agree to just sit on LTIR to collect a bigger paycheck, but he has a one way deal so that theory doesn't apply.

Certainly the Leafs do need at least 7 NHL competent Dmen this season.....let's hope Timmins is one, cause Benoit isn't
But again. the discussion above seems to put the blame on the Leafs dmen. No mention of how poorly the forwards have been as a group.
Domi and Bertuzzi have contributed nothing. Last two loses, one goal per game as team.
Hard to believe, that the Leafs would have faked an LTIR for Timmins. He was having a fine preseason. And not to play for over three weeks, and expect him to be NHL up to NHL speed, just doesn't bode well for Timmins or the team.

I would've like to see the Leafs play better last game, they started flat and bert looked bad against Chicago, marner played pretty bad against Chicago too but the whole team seemed asleep against Chicago...Florida was better as a team but the lines were all over the place the biggest reason the Leafs didn't beat Florida in my opinion was not solving bobovsky at all again I think he is the real Leafs killer and not the players just the bob

Yeah, during the past few playoffs the Leafs have been beaten by superior goaltending, great goaltending by the their opponents. And if the Panther game Thursday, if the Leafs had scored early on Bob as they good have, well it might have been a different resolve.

Timmins' value varies on CFACGM. It's either potential top 4D to minor league scrub. I'd take him over Benoit.

True my thing is just that the cap situation here is weird
They actually can’t afford him and run 20 skaters, then there’s the risk of losing him on waivers which is high cause he actually played games last season. Third he probably is injured. I’m guessing Minton getting sent down will align with Timmons coming off ltir then they run 11 and 7 till a subsequent move is made

His real value is about a 2nd round pick.
