It will be good if montreal retains half the salary from Armia. And Washington does a top 3 protected because they have a possible lottery pick.

There have been speculation about a ln possible Mantha + 1 first round pick for future consideration between Montreal or maybe Philadelphie as Daniel Brière have say that he's willing to go on the same road (bad contract + asset for nothing)

So I don't think Armia is needed here.

Don't know who's speculating about attaching a 1st to Mantha but it makes absolutely no sense. Not only is the value seemingly off (andrew Ladd, who made 250k less than Mantha, was dumped for a 2nd round pick as a comparable), but there's no incentive for a Washington that doesn't seem primed to make the playoffs to randomly deal what could very well be a high lottery 1st round pick to dump Mantha. Adding Armia in also would lose Montreal so real value because Washington takes on an extra year of a bad deal and only gets about 2 mil in cap relief.

The speculation about Mantha and an First was from this summer which would have free some money to Washington and help them maybe acquire one or two free agent to boost them. Monahan was trade for an late first round but again some could argue it was to much but at that time it's was Brad Treleving value to obtain is cap space that he wanted.

What also boost the value of bad contract is that from the last few year the cap salary didn't have growth alot which leave alot of team in financial need of space. Next year's the cap should upgrade to an 4 to 6 millions jump which will help alot of team in need of cap space but remove some negotiation power to team with alot of cap space.

It's that to much maybe yeah but this all conjecture here, the real value is what the gm think about the player / Cap space.

Honestly if Armia is deal somewhere it would be to a team that when give him a try on bottom six for the playoffs. He did good during Montreal last cup run and is frame height/weight could interest some. I'm not really waiting on a big return maybe a fourth round pick if Kent Hughes is lucky.

Why is Washington adding a 1st with Mantha for a player who literally hasn't put up more than 14 pts in like 4 seasons and is playing in the minors right now? Armia cleared waivers for a reason, no team is moving a 1st for him
