Detroit don't need another centre and isn't going to trade for rentals.

When Vasilevskiy comes back TB is screwed cap wise so they don't consider this. Maybe maybe with 50% retention though I doubt it.

Flames won’t start a rebuild because the fans don’t stick around when the team is bad. The owners make their money down the stretch and in a round of the postseason. Let’s not forget the last time this team tried to build a home grown team in the 90’s they closed the entire press level section of the dome. Owners are running a business they’d rather make money than take the chance of the fan base checking out again. Especially with new building on the way

Why are the Flames giving up two of their biggest assets for pennies on the dollar? Both Lindholm and Hanifin are worth first-round picks at minimum. Understand making goalie room. But the Lindholm and Hanifin trades make absolutely no sense for Calgary. If they are going to tank at least get like some decent young assets / picks?

The Hanifin trade if offered would be a 3 second conversation, "where do we sign".

I have been tinkering with value calculators and without a guaranteed extension Hanifin is 2 seconds and a B prospect. With extension guarantees his value is a 1st (protected) and either an A prospect or 2 2nd round picks.

Example - With extension guarantees Hanifin to AZ for 2025 1st (top 10) 2024 2nd and Soderstrom
