Man do I not want Parayko. That contract man. The worst part is you probably do need to pay that much to get that contract.

Blues fans will swear up and down that he's still the elite dfd he was 4 years ago. Can't admit he's fallen off and his contract SUUCKKS

Yeah, man, I'm sorry. He fell off a cliff like the second he signed that contract. I would totally take him as 1-year rental right now. I do not want him with any term.

The Blues obviously are not doing that. But I do enjoy watching everyone assume they'll be dead in the water at the TDL.

Yeeeeah exactly no Blues fans say that. Blues fans are worse on him than all you "experts" who never watch him play are.

you dont need to be an expert to want to avoid him.

>was elite in a 2RD role
>fell off a cliff once he faced a higher quality of comp
>is now 30 - is already starting to decline
>signed until he's 37, full ntc until he's 35

You get all hissy once somebody claims he's not that good anymore when it's literally just the reality lol.

I think most of us have come to grips that he’s not the Pietrangelo replacement that we were expecting. But to say that contract sucks while looking at what he brings to the table is wildly ignorant.

He plays 20-23 minutes a night even strength in a matchup role with Nick Leddy as a partner against teams top offensive performers. He also still gets around 30 points a season doing so. He’s not a high end offensive threat as he’s not a fantastic first passer and his shot is high end but in accurate. He is an elite skater and an elite 1 on 1 defender.

At 6.5 a year I’d take that 10 times out of 10.

As far as the trade I don’t understand how people don’t realize that getting that cap space is nice and all, but who exactly replaces him? There’s no world where you find someone to fill his role in UFA, that’s even without considering the cap. Also, I’m not really sure of the point of Hoglander or Silvos in that deal

The problem is even with his D partners, he's just not been good against top competition. There was a marginal decrease in his defensive metrics the moment he started playing in that role. 6.5 isn't the worst, but because Armstrong likes to hand out trade clauses like he's Oprah, who wants to be locked into that deal?

If I'm handing out 6.5m+, I'm looking at all of the other defenders who are much better making similar money (or will be). Toews, Pesce, Pelech, Pulock... etc etc.

Could he bounce back? Maybe? The cost to acquire him is just way too high (according to Blues fans) for how he's been performing the past few season and how bad his contract is. Teams should stay very clear.

Apparently, being amused at the constant avalanche of falsehoods and parroted nonsense about Parayko around here = "All hissy". squinty smile

The only reality here is you guys haven't the foggiest first clue about this player, and prove that beyond any possible unreasonable doubt every time you prattle on "with authority" on his game/contract/etc.

I think you might want to take a look in the mirror, because this was the biggest projection I've ever seen.

i think its near spot on. parayko isnt as good as he used to be and that contract length combined with the trade clause is absolutely terrible

Muh huh. Suuuuure. Whatever you need to keep telling yourself, as you strive for the Parayko expert award from the Dunning-Kruger foundation. If you're not careful, you're gonna get the inside track. Maybe instead, try watching hockey. It's hella-fun.

is that your only fall back when somebody says a blues player isnt good? what differentiates your eye test from the numbers that indicate hes fallen off a cliff once pietro was gone? you're not some wise hockey guru that is the know all be all because you're a blues fan. newsflash man, parayko is not that good. theres a reason nobody on this website likes you, because you cant handle any truth about your own team and you're super annoying in the process.

Look at the other defenseman you listed. And look at the teams d core as a whole. What is different about it versus the Blues? It shouldn’t take long to figure it out.

Marginal shift in his defensive metrics also have a pretty reasonable explanation as well. They’re amplified with much lesser of partners. It goes downhill when JBo had the heart attack. They have tried stop tapping and mending that hole with the likes of Scandella, Mikkola, Krug - to a degree pretty rarely though, and Leddy. Those guys are not capable of handling the assignment and honestly never really have been.

His defensive usage has also gotten increasingly harder without a suitable partner. It’s not his fault. It’s just not a single one of the other defenseman on the roster that can realistically play 18+ a night can play against tougher opposition without getting lit up.

For what it’s worth. I think Leddy personally has been ok. But ok doesn’t mean you put him in a role where he has to be one of the best shut down defensemen in the league.

There’s a reason Faulk and Krug were like +45 each in 2021-2022.

tears of joy

Instead of flailing about like a toddler, a simple answer of almost none would have sufficed.

Oh... and btw, all these numbers you speak of are entirely subjective, and likely also not individual stats. So good luck with all that.

The good old "the numbers dont mean anything because he plays for my team"

Take a long walk off a short pier, man. I at least hope you're self aware to know you're not liked on here
